VIS or fiber images CF hood?
go with FI. it looks a whole lot better in the light. Its lighter than VIS and can withstand damage like their videos show. PLus its cool showing your friends that you can push down on the middle your hood. -=o)
Fi
this is on my bf's civic.. had to special order it with the carbon fiber frame
.. the latch is really strong and reinforced.. and the hood takes a lot of abuse.. and tolerates high speed extremely well.. no hood pins either..

Id go VIS. Youve got a 50/50 chance of fitment with FI, and they are more expensive. I cant justify spending $500 on a stupid hood, but thats just me.
VIS is a bit heavier, but only by a few pounds. This is apparently to make the hood more stable under high speeds to hoodpins arent necessary. Mine fits pretty damn good, not perfect, but better than most hoods. Ive seen FI hoods that fit PERFECT and FI hoods that fit like absolute garbage. The weave is the same.

I really liked the fitment of the vis hood, went straight on no adjusting. The edges are rolled on the vis hood also and a very good price. After high speeds I stopped checked the underside of the hood for and stress cracks or the skeleton gettting loose but after still looked normal. The latch is also VERY strong.
I was leaning towards a FI but didn't like what i saw on my friends DA, it didnt' fit right no matter how much it was adjusted it had a gap and was up a little on one side, but they are a bit lighter. I'm not sure about strenght, I think both are the same
But overall I vote VIS
EDIT: I forgot to add, i remember vis was in the process of making a Full cf hood skeleton and all like the one posted above, this was a while back so they are probably already made

id go with VIS cause thats what i have on my integra, the weave makes my black car look bad ***, and i have no hood pins and it withstands speeds of over 100 no problem

im looking to get a hood.. ive heard great things about vis.. but wow sonicblueteg that description you gave about the fiber images hood is great. Id love to sport a cf hood that does not require hood pins.
VIS sure has come along ways.. and FI seems to be going downhill every year...
I remember when VIS was for strictly RICERS and got no respect from the true Honda guys.. and Fiber Images was the shizznit back then..
Now the smart guys at VIS made a decent hood and seems to be killing FI (not sure if they ever did to good with there high retail pricing) but they used to have the good word behind them which seems to go along ways these days... but for pricing.. you cant go wrong with the VIS.. but me i love my stock hood! ahhaaha less attention...

VIS is rice as ****. Don't buy that ****.
If you like nozzle hole in your hood and shity quality Carbon Fiber. Go ahead and get one. They also put the hood skeleton on, which isn't needed on a CF hood. They use a PLASTIC hood skeleton. WTF?
FI doesn't use a hood skeleton, but uses some sort of underlyining Carbon Fiber brace, not plastic like VIS. There are NO nozzle holes. The CF is just 100 X better weave pattern.

Nozzle holes? What are you talking about? Is this coming from any experience or just what youve heard through the grapevine?
G3 Integra hoods do NOT HAVE NOZZLE HOLES. Just to clear up that bit of misinformation. If your hood comes stock with wiper nozzles, chances are VIS includes them in the CF hood. If it doesnt, like Integras, then chances are VIS doesnt include them. VIS also has holes to pop on your weatherstripping onto the hood, something FI didnt always have.
For $150 less, you get a well constructed hood, one that does not require pins, a very tight weave, gel coated, and rolled edges. Its a no brainer to me.
Fiberimages has always been the "hype" hood. "Look at our hoods, we can drop bowling ***** on them." Terrific. Next time a bowling ball drops on my hood, Ill hope it can take the hit like an FI hood can. FI did a great job as establishing themselves as the standard for affordable, OEM fit CF hoods. Unfortunately theyre quality went downhill just as the other companies started realizing that they can pour a bit more money into their hoods and still come out with a profitable product. Which is the reason you started seeing VIS, Sunny Styling, TC Spoilers etc. CF Hoods get better and better in terms of quality over the past couple of years.
And as for the skeleton...I dont know about plastic. Im no materials expert, but the FI hood pictured above looks like fiberglass to me, same as most every CF product.

I didn't mean just integras.
FI doesn't have any at all, on any of their hoods.
