With that said, why is only one end of an intake manifold open?

I'm guessing so all the sensors and parts don't have to be done twice. I would think it could supply more air with both ends open, though.

I think he's asking why not have two throttle bodies and intakes... one on each end of the manifold.

what he is thinking, is why there aren't 2 TB just like the guy above said.
Off course is this way cus of cost and because is not necesary on a stock engine

BUT

if you have an NA monster you can do like some drag racers did (i saw it on some SCC magazine, the one with the red Ford Focus on the cover), he put 2 TB next to each other on the TOP of the IM and closed the port on the left of the IM, i guess he doesn't have problems with one cilinder getting leaner than other and blah blah, i think people might be able to do this and gain some power.

pretty much, but why ITB you don't have plenum, man, you barely have runners, hehe, so with this setup i would think it improves a lil the bottom end and the mid power curve (if compared to an ITB setup)
