Default starting air valve

This valve is bolted to the front of the intake manifold above the fpr and to the right of the throttle cable bracket. It has a vacuum line coming off it that attaches to a nipple on the intake tube right before the throttle body. I know they only come on usdm h22a1's and h23a1's. Does anyone know what this valve does? Is it only for idling? Does it affect emissions at all?

I have a jdm h22a and I am missing the valve. The referee told me I need this valve to pass visual inspection. It's for my BAR sticker for my jdm swap.

Does anyone know if the starting air valve off an h23a1 will bolt on to an h22? Does it come on the 97+ h22a4's also?

Does anyone know where I can get one or have one they will sell to me. I tried posting this in the classifieds but it moves so fast and this is a prelude specific part, so I figure I'd try in this forum. Thanks guys.

I would say the H23 one will work since the IMs are basically identical in design. Just go grab one from a junkyard.

k thanks for the info. I was gonna go try a junkyard really soon. Just wanted to see if anyone had this valve lying around and wanted to get rid of it.

It adds some air to the intake manifold until it sees vaccume. i.e. it's supposed to help to let you start the car without touching anything but the key. It has absolutely nothing at all to do with emmisions. Stoopid bureaucrats. I made a cover plate and tossed mine. Might make a difference trying to start it when it's 40 below, but dead weight where I live... I'd say just plug it.

Say, did your JDM engine have cover for the hole? I'll swap you a valve for that cover. I have a couple lying arund in my busted parts/useless junk pile. PM me.
