As the title sais...... Today had been a black day for me.... and still it is.. because all my plans of racing practice and school has been gone with that car.
We (me and my passanger) came down with my R heading for a downhill S-chikane (left right left) in third at a speed of maybe 120km/h after I revmatched and downshifted from fourth. Just as I was about to dive from the right edge into the first left curve, a dog-looking animal crossed the track from right to left. My passanger identified it later as a fox. My first reaction was to avoid to kill that "dog" and I opened the steering wheel and got off the gas a little bit.
So I was able to avoid that fox but I missed the line completely and saw myself heading for the second (right) turn, which dives downhill a lot. I was on the INNER line... way too fast. So I lost control over the rear but catched the car again almost. During our slide throug this downhill curve at 100km/h the left front wheel jumped over the red/white border of the track...
I was not longer able to do anything but braking hard to leave as much energy on the concrete as possible because we flew directed to the wall (there is no saftey zone or anything). WE crushed into it first with the left front fender, smashing the cooler and were hit again with the left rear.
I hit with my head violently against the window and the roof, not sure if I took serious hurt by now..... My passanger kissed the airbag (window broke) which hurt his eye and his neck. I hope he will be fine soon. (we don`t wear helmets here caused by insanity..
)
Now all what is left is our lifes, a good engine and some good bolt ons and interior, three undamaged CP035 and the rest of the wreck... But if the chassis is not warped, maybe it can be fixed. The crash is insured.
If it can`t be fixed, I think I`m through with racing Hondas and I want to thank all the friends and users on this board.
I still have my Honda VFR 800 left for driving to work and back. But I feel a little bit scared now.. After 14 years of driving and 2 years of racing this was my first crash ever...!
Be careful out there.

This story illustrates the only reason that I'm afraid to track my car...
(that and my lack of $$$)
sorry to hear about your loss - glad you and your passenger are ok - don't worry -it's just a car, can be replaced.
Go buy a civic hatchie and drop that powertrain and suspension in
Good luck.

Sad man. Glad you both are OK, that's what matters. It's hard making a decision with an animals life like that too. Either way, going that fast and running over an animal, there's a great possibility you would have still lost control
Good luck with the repair, if you decide to.
Sorry to hear about your loss. I am glad that you and your passenger are ok.
Just out of curiousity, how can you get the car insured on the track?

Glad to hear you are alive! Hope you and your friend will recover soon!!
BTW: Maybe I am interessed in buying some of the bolt-ons/quality parts you had on your car!

Please, please, please, wear a helmet. Being brain damaged from an injury can be worse than dying.

I am really sad to hear about your accident. You're lucky, what with so many people dying on that track. A friend of mine crashed his 968 there a few months ago, but it is all fixed now. I hope you find another car to have fun with. Crashing sucks.

Sven, I am So sorry to hear this.
Be glad that you Both are alright. I know exactly how you feel and hope that you don't just give up racing entirely, Hondas or whatever other car you may choose.
Take a few days to relax and recoop. I totally understand the fear and respect your feelings but, you were doing so well and these things happen. Two things to take away from this are wearing helmets and hitting animals. Helmets save noggins, and fox's are plentiful.
Feel better, and Yes I think we ALL enjoyed your Euro racing posts and would hate to lose you altogether.
IM me if you feel like talking, I totalled my first R after hitting a big bovine at 80 MPH a couple of years ago.

1. Glad you're ok - are folks allowed to wear helmets on the Ring?
2. Next time, just hit the fox. I won't swerve for any animal - I've heard too many stories like yours.

That's bad news.....But be glad everyone is OK.
Just get that car fixed or don't sell the other black ITR. And next time wear a helmet!!!

holy crap! sorry to hear it man! glad you are okay... no helmets
I guess I figured you would have been required. VERY glad to hear you guys don't have serious injuries.
I 2nd the idea of putting the go-fast parts in another car - prep it as a race-car, with all the safety bits included, and get back out there
