Cliff Notes
Took the CRX down to the drag strip last night, since there's no autocrossing/open track events for the next 3 months, I figure i'd take up drag racing during the summer.

On Tuesday of last week, I started ripping my car apart so I can get my cage welded in and to rewire my car so the wiring isn't a complete mess.

Thursday of last week, I found out about the drag event.

Friday, I spend all night trying to rewire my car.
Saturday, I spend all day rewiring my car, I manage to get a seat with only lap belts, steering wheel, my VTEC Controller (with RPM display) and some minor gauges (oil pressure, water temp, volts) installed and take it to the drag strip.

I didn't want to install the shoulder harnesses in case of some accident that had me rolling over, so i ran the lap belts only and wore a helmet during my runs.

I had my Victoracers on from an autocross two weeks ago, so I ran those.

I entered the Sport Compact bracket race.

Some ***** was going to protest me cause I was running the v700s because he doesn't know dick and says they aren't DOT legal (they are). OF course, mine are almost bald (70ish heat cycles). Kinda happy how the car ran. the 60' still suck, but, hey.

It's a B16A1...

Mods:

DC Header 4-2-1
ITR intake manifold
filthy air filter and tube
JG 60mm TB
vortex fuel rail
B&M FPR
chipped ecu
no cat
3 chamber muffler
...stock timing
erm... 5000 autocross/open track race miles on the engine

the car I raced that did 18s was an old 280zx. It was hell sitting at the light for nearly 4 seconds while it ran down the track.

wow and only a 14.4. With those mods and weight reduction I would expect maybe a 13.6-14.0. Is it tuned properly? Check the specs on your ignition on each cylinder, anything clogged up like filter or anything. If everythings fine then I would assume your traction is quite bad. Bring some slicks with you next time and lets see some 13's
A stock B16 crx with full interior should be running those times.

Yep.

Mind you, this engine has close to 6000 miles of hard racing. Not your 14-15seconds of drag racing, but 20minute sessions of open track and 40-60 seconds of autocrossing.

The engine is worn and is surprising still pulling strong.

Also, this is at 2200' above sea level.

and my alignment isn't set where all four tyres are pointing forward (1/16" toe-out in the front, 1/16" toe-in in the rear).

14.4 ET's and 134 HP is great in terms of acceleration and power needed for a crx whos primary focus is autox and open track. hell look at the ITA sohc d16a6 crx's with less Hp then that and they rip too. not everyone is gonna need a 220 hp b20 vtec.

i get ur point..... and u are very right.....

BUT!!!!!! with the engine and all the 'mods' done to it.... even tho it has a lot of punishement on it, still has low numbers..... if he goes that low then hes loosing compression or something..... but hey.... times are good, and racing is good.... just wanted to know why is just 134whp......

I find it funny how the other guy dialed in a 18.25.
I'm no Drag racer, but my D15 gutted Egg Autocross car ran a
15.5 on 175/70/13s (first time ever). How can a Z be so slow?

D mod eh? Seen this? Thought it was worth sharing.

you mean, gutted it more?

14.80, so i gained about 4 tenths from losing 75lbs and dropping my 60 by 2 tenths.

and remember altitude hinders times. It should be a 14 flat in cali...should.

I would love to see a time slip of a stock b16 with full interior do that.

Well, i lost the bracket race...

I've drag raced quite a bit before. It was just hellish to sit and wait for nearly 4 seconds while my competition ran down the track.

um yeah a crx can pull times like a 14.4 witl stock b16 with full int. My friend actually happened to do it in a 90 crx hf, full interior, on intake/exhaust, no headers and another one of my boys pulled a 14.7 100 % stock in a 92 CX hatch, full interior with intake only.

What do you consider stock?

I don't think you're going to see a stock B16A run mid-to-low 14s with a full interior unless the driver weighs... well... nothing.

I tried many, many times.
