What tires when upgrading the Type-R to 16x7 wheels?
I am considering the following list of tires for my Type-R when I upgrade to 16x7 wheels in the future. I plan on using 205/45/16 tires, and the car is driven daily so I would like a tire that is close to the performance of the stock tires at least, with ok tread wear and weather capabilities are a plus. If there is a better tire that is not on the list that should be please post to let me know and I will add it. Is there a place online that is better than www.tirerack.com to purchase them?

i wouldn't recommend re-730s either. a NEON that i race against in STS class switched from AVSis to 730s, his times went up about 2secs.
Anyone have suggestions for 215/45/16 size as well??
The main reason is to keep the speedo as close to stock as possible, otherwise I would consider a 225 tire.

Yea, I would consider 215/45/16 as well, they just seem more limited to choices and a higher priced tire as well. I do plan to lower the car 1" or so down the road as well so the 215 may be a problem there?
Wayne: I did not see the 730's in a 205 or 215 on tirerack at all.

Could an admin add the Bridgestone Potenza re-730 to the poll, it looks like I don't have to option to add anything myself?

bridgestone potenza re-730's... **** parada's... crapiest tires ever.

Paradas are intended for tricked out "custom" pickups and minivans. Someone @ Yokohama USA should be shot for marketing this as a high performance tire.
no the best is when you call yokohama japan and have someone with a japanese speaking history inquire about the high performance yokohama parada's and hear laughs from accross the room like you called and said your name was "gobble johnson"...
i forgot I was in an itr forum, I mean the re730;s are a nice *** base street track tire, I know I love my yokohama a520's the whole 5 months they lasted but I went with shitty *** khumos and regret every cent spent on those tires but the a520's just wear to godamn fast
...
if you have the money to pay for some tires just buy some new bridgestone re-10' or whatever your stock tires were again I heard those are some nice *** tires, my friend vapor si on the other hand has some nice *** brand new jdm bridgestones for sale but they would last 3 months on the streets...
I personally fancy the yoko a032's but their rain reliability is life threatening but dry weather they are like the bestest tire on earth... (thats streetable) hehe... but people bitch about stupid **** like tire noise and crap and underate tires because of that...
if your buying tires to race/drive on go with the bridgestone re-730's
if your looking for tires to jsut drive on get some khumos (i wont tell anyone those tires suck a fat dick for anything else)
or if your all about the track I have a contact who can get yoko A042's which are very very very track sexy... and put toyo r1's to shame.

I have 215/45/16 Michelin Pilot Sports. These are absolutely great, better than my 205/50/15 RE730s by a mile. They were about twice as much however (220 a piece or so).
Ive driven the P Zero Assimetrico/Directzionale combo, but on a very different car, so i wouldnt want to make any comparisons. They recommend Assimetrico's all around on the Type-R anyway.
Before the Michelins i had the RE730s, then before that the Toyo Fz4. The Toyo was totally outclassed since it was an all-season tire.

I have 215/40/16 Kumho 712's on my SSR Competitions, I like them. They aren't the grippiest tire, but for the money you spend on them (80 a tire), you can nearly afford to purchase a second set of rims, for a little more you can equip them with A032R's for competition. The Kumho's are a good all around tire, and the 215/40 looks better than 205/40 (rides MUCH better too).
Why do you guys hate Parada's? I'm just curious, cuz I planned on getting some once my Pirelli Supersport P7000's were done. The Pirelli's look nice, and do very well in adverse weather, but the lateral grip isnt there. Any suggestions?
I'm going to have to recommend Bridgestone Potenza Pole Positions S-03's. I just got a set (not sure if they make em' in the size your looking for).
They are better than the RE010's.

I'd go with the Bridgestone S-03's, Yok A520's or Michelin Pilot Sports.
Those all own on the street. Stay away from the Paradas, they don't even deserve to be mentioned with the tires I listed above.

I dunno if the bridgestone s0-3's could even be in the same class as the a520's i mean the a520's are sweet tires but they have gotten bad reviews being that there "SUPPOSED" to be a long lasting track tire "HAHA AS LONG AS YOU DONT RUN ANY TYPE OF CAMBER ON THEM"
mine lasted 5 months, and im sure the s03's would last about 5 months... then again not as many people drive as much as me so WHO KNOWS, but they are both bitchin tires.

Looks like the Pirelli PZero System Asimmetrico are in the lead, and they are not bad at $123 each.
Does anyone know the diferrence in the Pirelli P7000 and the Pirelli P7000 SUPERSPORT.
Tire rack has Pirelli P7000 Size:215/45-16 WR rated for $109 each. The car will be lowered about 1" sometime down the road is that going to be a problem if I were to get the 215's though is what I am worried about.

there is a letter on the RE010's that denotes which application(NSX/ITR) it is for... each is designed OE for the specific car... I can't remember which letters though... a search should provide the answer as this board is where I learned of this...
