Brake light stays on only when cold?
My brake light (e-brake), stays on when the car is cold, after a while it will go off, also if i hit the brakes hard sometimes it will go off for a second and it always turns off after 15min or so but damn its annoying, it only happens in the morning also.
I think the sensor or cable is gunked up from soda(i know, im sorry) getting on the cable bellow the armrest.
any ideas? where is the sensor for this stuiped thing? does it mean my ebrake sensor is stuck, or does this mean the brakes are actually bad (they work fine)
any idea on how to fix it
its a stock 2000 integra.

First thing to check would be brake fluid, second thing would be the sensor on the cap. Fill it with brake fluid, and if that doesnt work, get a new cap. 9 times out of 10 the problem is one of the two.
oh ok thank you for the quick replys (this board kicks ***)...
I will fill it with brake fluid when i get home from work, in case that doesnt work, what kind of cap are we talking about?

Mine is doing the exact same thing right now. I had a thread just like this. I still haven't done anything about it and it's still annoying the **** out of me. LOL. I guess i need to add some brake fluid. Tell me if that fixes it for you...

Wasn't he talking about the handbrake light? Not only that, he mentioned spilling soda into the cables below the armrest? C'mon guys, it aint rocket science.
The handbrake warning lamp comes from a cheap little button switch down there at the handbrake lever. Just take off the rear console to see that stuff. You might be able to reach in thru the hole for the rear ashtray? If the bracket is bent or the switch is sticky (from - maybe - something spilled on it...) then just clean it up & bend the bracket so it works properly.
The warning for low brake fluid in the reservoir is a different thing completely. If you're getting that, why don't you add brake fluid? Not many DIY jobs are that easy.

I've heard people say that it's just a bad sensor. The same thing happens to my car. I wouldn't worry about it. All my fluid levels are alright, and it still does it. Also, I bought my car new and it's always done that.
i still think that its the fluid. my e brake light used to stay on too, then when i would stop it would go off, then it would go back on. anyway, i filled my brake fluid up and then it never came on again. so i still think its the fluid. if not then o well i guess i learned somthing new.

That used to work for me, but the light is still on and will pop back on after a little. I'm still working on getting the brake fluid. LOL. I"m so freakin busy lately...

I have the same problem, check your brake pads. I just did my brakes today and they were almost gone. After topping off the resevoir everytime the light came on I ended up overflowing it when i pushed the piston back in for the new brakes. It could mean ur pads are getting low.
