What Kind of Horesepoer Do you Get from AEM Pulleys?
are they worth the price? does anyone have any dyno sheets showing some numbers? there for a 2001 GSR just wanted to get some info on them.
Thanks
Thanks
I've done my research on this product already, and most people say that the differenece is hardly noticable and definitely not worth the price..... just take off your power steering belt and get the same power increase for free
I like the Unorthodox pulleys. They came out with them first and AEM copied their design. I had them for my 240sx and now I own the 95 GSR race pulley set. You will feel a difference (pulleys don't make power--they reduce the power which gets lost to a very heavy stock pulley). It revs faster so you can get into the VTEC faster. No bad side effect, some say that it screws up the harmonics of the engine; However I have had these for years and both of my engines are working well. Go to http://www.unorthodoxracing.com and check it out! even if you end up getting the cheaper AEM pulley. Remember that you get what you pay for...

P.S. I am not trying to sell anything! I really like the quality of unorthodox racing’s products.

The answer IS: 1-2 HP gain.
Now thats not alot and there are lots of other ways to spend the money that would produce more HP per dollar but, the pullys are great for N/A where you want to extract every last HP from your engine.
Yes I've heard that the Unorthodox pullys are the better of the bunch for the money.
And, I too will slap some on after I've bolted everything else I've chosen for my N/A build and Before I start going inside the valve cover.
Good luck,
A.

Remeber, with the pulleys you are not gaining any horsepower, you are just freeing some up. Secondly, from what I've heard, the gain is negligible Also the pulleys spin at a slower speed therefore if you are driving at night with lights on and stereo system on and you have an amp...etc and you come to a stop, you will notice the lights and such start to die down. This is probably not a serious thing, but IMHO I do not think that pulleys are worth it. This topic has been discussed many times and I think the general concesus is that there is more negative than positive results when doing this mod.

i have the AEM pulleys and i really dont recommend getting them.
no difference whatsoever noticed when installed. i would spend your $$ on
I/H/E, camshafts, cam gears, FPR, ITR rear sway bar,etc........
also the another prob is finding the belts that fit when the belts that come with the pulleys start to wear out. so imma gonna go back to stock pulleys when that time comes........

I have the AEM's, they work fine and result in a noticeable increase in usable power in the mid to high RPM range from my butt-dyno. For the cost of the AEM's, it is definitely worth it.... but only if you put them in yourself..... if you have to pay a mechanic to do it.... invest your $$ in something else. Removing you PS belt will result in some free HP..... but have you driven without PS on the street.... get ready for a work out !
As far as the lights dimming.... I have not noticed it with a med power level stereo... but if you have a capacitor... you won't see this problem.
AEM gives you P/S and alternator pulleys.. Unorthodox is much more expensive for basically the same thing ! Just don't change your crank pulley !
I got shafted by having the mechanic put in my set, this is the only reason I regret putting them in... cuz I went from $125 for the set to an additional $150 to put them in ! If you put em in yourself.... go for it... it'll be worth it. As far as belt size.... don't worry... any well stocked Honda mechanic will have belts to fit the new pulleys.
