I took out my resonator box..
since i put my a jdm front end on.. i had to remove that box in order to reach the bulbs easier.. that is the corner lamps.. they are white right now i need to go buy some amber ones.. but if the resonator box is there, when bumper is removed its very difficult to get to the bulb on the right side without taking the headlight out.. so i took out the box completely and now i can reach all my wiring just by taking the front bumper off.. the filterbox has a little arm that reches into bumpers right hand side where its protected by mudguards so i dont think any water will be getting in there unless i run into a 3ft deep puddle.
Ohh.. and btw, the car sounds bad-*** right now.. vtec is another story.. i can actaully hear it in all gears really and feel it pull! just wanted to know are there any downsides to taking this out? if its just lower MPG then its ok.. i'm not sure if there is any loss in low end but i definately felt major increase in top end. Well thats the only modification that my car has so far.. and that front end.. everything else is bone stock.

it'll probably give u more milage...cause air flows better...i did this to my bros prelude..and made this custom pipe of plastic from the front bumper to the air box...1st gear on his prelude is crazy as heck! mucho torque...try to do tha same thing...unless ur gettin an AEM or other CAI...but stock air box and Cold air extension is my favorite.
i just took off my aem and other things to turn my car back into stock. There definetly is a power loss but since i never had my stock box with resonator out, i never could really hear/tell diff. Now that i put just the arm with the filter on, it sounds pretty bad ***, and feels pretty good too, nothing like the AEM, but i definetly would do this if i just had a stock R.

i love it without a box and could definately tell the difference.. its worth a try.. only 4 bolts are holding it.. and you can always put it back.

Flux,
My reasons for going back completely stock are as follows,
the cops around here are total ********. I got pulled over and ticketed for a retarded *** reason, on top of that him calling me a dumb sob. anyways, so i just decided not to mess with my car anymore. I also wanted to go back to stock because i wanted to get better parts, i felt i was going in the wrong direction with my car.
now with all my parts sold i can buy myself a ps2 and gt3!!! YES!! primary reason, haha, and start focusing on going FI with my R. I think its really cool that im stock now because im going to go yoshi huntin! haha. i do participate in some autocrosses but since im not 18 yet I can't attend that many.
yb-r- who's callin out names!

So are you just taking the top of the box off, or running without a filter. Sorry, I get confused sometimes
http://integra.vtec.net/air/intake.html
Can give u some info about it. LOL they talk about removing it during the rain storms but its seems just hype like the AEM CAI about sucking in water. I drove through a snow storm in january with my 96 LS with this set up and when i pulled over in a rest stop in NY i had to reach in and remove a bunch of snow from the intake and i opened the hood and checked the filter and it was perfectly dry. With this set up it will pull harder and sound mean espically in colder weather!!!!!!
How do you get the resonator off?
I've tried everything except taking the front bumper off..is that the only way to get at all the bolts?
I think I have 3 of the 4..

I'm confused...
I thought taking out the resonator box out INCREASED air flow.. why are people in this post reporting feeling gains then?
Which is the answer? Leaving it in or taking it out?

The resonator is there for more than just to reduce sound. There is some JuJu going on here. It sets up pressure wave pulses that are tuned to promote air flow. I would like to believe that it is timed to the opening and closing of the valves, but I think that is getting complicated. On the CL Type S Honda calls it "Resonance Effect Super Charging". It is not really supercharging, per se, but the pressure waves do add HP.
Your exhaust works the same way. That is what they are referring to when they say "tuned exhaust" and "tuned intake".
It's not just a matter of increasing air flow, otherwise we would see a bunch of cars with filters bolted directly to the throttle body (which DOESN'T work, unless you have ITBs)
