What's up with these shady tuning shops? No one has any integrity...
So here's the story, I decided to do a B16 swap into my crx and I went to a shop my friend recommended. They told me no problem, we can do it in a weekend. All we need to do is get a deposit and we can go from there. Anyway, we get that done, and a day goes by and they tell me hey, we got this motor that's a rebuilt "performance" motor, but were not sure who built it, but it's suppose to have CTR pistons and the head is suppose to be port and polished. They said that it was a deal, and it would be quicker and cheaper in the long run. BOY WERE THEY WRONG!...After I got the car back, I drove it nice and easy for about a week, but I noticed this weird vibration coming from the clutch pedal everytime I engaged and disengaged it. So I took it back, told them what was up, they said they would check it out, but more than likely it was clutch chatter. Anyway, we went in circles with the clutch theory, they thought it was a bad pressure plate, but the clutch was brand new from Exedy. They said that they have seen brand new bad ones before. I thought that was really weird. Anyway, after we figured out that it wasn't a bad pressure plate, they proceeded to pull the oil pan, and that's when the real problems started. When they looked up in the block, they noticed that one of the thrust washers was missing and a bearing cap was missing too. This was the cause of the vibration, and the end of the motor!!!! So basically after all that, I need to get a new block, I still don't know if the head is OK, I'm kind of sketchy after having the block go, who knows what's wrong with the head. So now they say, well, we need to get a hold of the person that "you purchased the motor from", and handle this situation. That was a month ago and still no real progress. Now, they are trying to push the issue that I am responsible for the "mishap". I told them, "you represented this person and you sold me the motor in good faith that it would run like it's suppose to and you would be responsible for making that happen". They said that if this guy would not take action, that they would get me a new block and make it "right". Well, now that's not even happening, and my friend told me the other day when he went by the shop he talked to one of the guys there and he was told, "it wasn't waranteed, and if he wants it fixed, he has to pay for it all". Well, this is where I stand now, I already now what I have to do if they don't come through, because I have the right people behind me who will take legal action, Uncle Sam. I guess, the point that I'm trying to make is, did I do anything wrong in this situation, and why should I be responsible for any of this, since I'm the customer and they are the ones delivering the product. Am I the only one that this has happened too, has anyone else gotten a bogus deal on a motor and what was the outcome of it. In your opinion(s) what are my options. Any and all advice is welcome and appreciated, thanks....
Dude, you really need to use paragraphs. Some Cliff Notes would be nice too.

Well first that was the longest sentence I have read on here in awhile!!
Now onto the point of your story. There are plenty of Shady shops out there you have to be careful where you go anyone can open an import performance shop its just if they decide to do it right or not.
OK first off you do have something saying that the motor and or their work is guaranteed right?? If not it doesn't matter what kind of legal actions you throw at them they can dodge them all.
I was in the same situation about 5 years ago when I bought my POS Chevy Cavalier Z24. The same day I paid them the damn $6500 for it is the same day my motor went on it and well with no written warranty I was SOL!! But the nice thing is that I paid the $300 or so bucks for the 3 month 3000 mile warranty but it didnt kick in until after 10 days of purchase so there I was sitting there car less since the warranty wasnt valid until 10 days I found a shop that did the work and they did it early for me but just didnt give the car back until after the 10 day grace period but about a week later that motor went ended up throwing a spark plug out of the head so they fixed that since THEIR work was guaranteed so it didnt affect my 3/3000 at all then about another week after that a bearing went and again since THEIR work was guaranteed again fixed for free.
But the bad thing about your situation is the fact that the shop that put the motor in for you wasnt the shop (or person) that sold you the motor so they MAY guarantee THEIR work but not the person's motor since it wasnt their's to begin with. So its kind of like a lot of shops out there that will do the work for you if they provide the parts rarely will you find a shop that will install your parts and also guarantee it they may not even guarantee their work with someone else's parts just because of legal actions that could arise.
If I was you I would go in there and basically kiss their asses and see if you can get something done for free if not atleast see if they will split the costs with you sicne they really dont have no legal responabilities to warranting a motor that wasnt theirs to begin with.
Oh and after you get all your work done slander the sh@t out of them!!!

you didnt do anything wrong, but nex time, if they say things like theyll replace the block or whatever for you, try n get it in writing. Even a simple piece of blank paper with them writing what they promise and a signature i think will work.
