Maaco paint questions?
Guys I've been looking to get my car painted it different color,I've had it for over 3 years and I plan on keeping it another 3 until it dies, with 77K its still drives almost like new, like another honda with proper care,I'm kinda really sick of the dark green, and I want a nice color because color means alot to me.I wanted to go with MilanoR,silver, ssbp,si blue, and white.I decided on SSBP and went to my body guy and he said its gonna cost 3 to 3,500 hundred with the proper prepping painting bumpers, doors, remove spoiler and install stock wing, and get a close to an OEM job.I figured I could buy a another car for that money.I went by the local maaco because I friend of mine has had about 5 cars painted for his buisness, and said they did a good job.I went there and they gave me an estimate of 1,100$,and that was for SSBP door jams, truck, and underhood. And removing my 3piece spoiler filling holes in 1/4 panel
and putting stock spoiler back on.They told me that paint would be 1 stage with clear coat and they were including and additional coat of CL.They said it would match about 95% compared to stock color.1st question isnt it a 3 stage paint SSBP?And if so how could they get it anywhere near that color in 1 stage with the pearl flip flop that shows blue/purple?Based on those circumstances do you guys thinks it worth it,saving 2k?I want the car to look good but its not a show car and I drive it to work everyday people do ding it up,Its a really good deal but at the same time I dont want the car to look cheezy.Kinda tuff just looking for advice. Thanks in advance for any info.

ssbp is a regular basecoat/clearcoat paint, not a three stage. maaco usually paints cars with single stage and it sucks. This is where the clear and paint are mixed together as one. kinda like high gloss out of a rattle can. If you were to get single stage you will never be able to wax it because when you try you will take off small amounts of the paint each time. Plus you are not gonna get the attention and quality you are looking for out of maaco that you will get from most body shops. Maaco only stays in business because of the turnaround and quantity of cars they do. They are moving way too fast to make it look perfect and they use crappy products to keep costs low. When its all said and done it really depends on what you want out of the paint job and what you are willing to spend. The first rule of any paint job is you get what you pay for. Hope this helps.
