Default Will certain ITR engines slow quicker than other ITR engines...

Test drove a 2000 Black type r today with aem and I noticed one thing when comaring it to my stock 2000. I shifted in the test drive car at an indicated 8400 rpm (salesman in the car so I did not want to completely redline it) and shifted to second and then third.

I noticed it stayed on the vtec lobes easier than in my car. In other words when I shift in my car at 8400 indicated I always fall off of vtec lobes Does that mean that my car slows down (rpm wise) quicker than the test drive vehicle or can the tach just be that different between two cars. I assume AEM has nothing to do with how quickly the car rpms would fall off?

Could there be a difference between the two tachs?

First of all, 8400 RPM is redline...and if you are shifting at redline and falling out of VTEC on your car, something is wrong. your tach must be a good deal off.

all itr motors are the same.......you may see a difference in the one u test drove because u think the aem intake is making a difference............with the aem when vtec kicks in its louder...............and if u think that there are some itr's out there faster than others that are stock........there all the same it just depends on the driver

All of the Tachs are off by about 300-400 RPM's

the only way you will be able to fall out of vtec, is if you had longer gear ratios in your tranny aka like a LS tranny....but if your car is stock then i don't think that should be an issue

I'd be willing to bet some are faster than others. Not by a second in a 1/4 or nothing mind you, but I bet there are a couple "freak" motors out there somewhere. Happens with all cars. Is the HP rating only required to be within 10% or something like that? (maybe it was 2-4%?)

Indicated 8400 rpm in my car is ~500 shy of fuel sutoff(8500). Therefore redline is off by 400 rpms. I did not check to see what fuel shutoff was in the black one.

I definetly fall off the secondary lobe if I shift in my car at indicated 8400 rpm. I know the one I test drove did not fall off the secondary lobe on the one two shift while it did on the 2-3 shift.

I am beginning to believe the tachs are just off a little more than others.
