99 accord check engine light
Does anyone know how to reset the light? i know it is simple, but i have forgotten how. Also are there any decent resources for accords that might give out info like this? i can't seem to find any manuals. Anywhere to get dealer manuals? I do have a setup to play with the engine computer/obd stuff if that is helpful in this. thanks for any info.
your manual WOULDNT do you much good..
you need a wire, plug in the wires(see the link below) in the right hole,
turn the key to "acc" or the second settting and the code be flashing out.
you dont just reset the cel, because the cel is telling you somthing is wrong.
for additional detail, please visit the link below, thank you

reset it by pulling the #13 fuse on the passenger side for 10 seconds or more

certainly did
hold the reset button for the odometer while the car is off, turn it on and hold for another 10 sec's...

That's for resetting the "service needed" reminder, which is just a mileage reminder.
The check-engine light is NOT the same thing.

I've never done it on my '99 Accord (it has never come on), but here is how to do it per this link: http://www.carcarecity.com/bbs/messages/2873.html
98 Accord..To reset the "chk eng" light go to the firewall on the passanger side of the engine compartment. Open the fuse box and unplug the 40amp fuse that goes to the radio back up. On the cover to the fuse box it is labeled 'back up ACC'. This will reset the computer and also require you to reprogram your radio.

Here is another thread regarding the "check engine" light on '98 & '99 Accords:

As pointed out in that thread, you can take your car to Autozone and have them read the code for the problem. Also, be sure your gas cap is tight... (clicks at least three times)
Also, per that thread, a very common cause of the check engine light is, after the gas cap, the catalytic converter. And that the catalytic converter is warrantied till 80,000 miles. This is per the thread, I've not verified it anywhere else and this is the first I've heard of it.
From another post, the warranty is 100,000 miles / 5 years:
"Federal mandate says that all emissions relate component are to be cover under waranty for 5 (five) years or 100K miles, so what the dealerships are actualy doing is reapping you off. I am an ASE master tech in the Automotive and Heavy Duty Truck so I know what I am talking about, I wouldn't let no dealer tell me you have to pay us because your car is out of waranty when it is not over 100K or older than five years yet, that is BS. What I meant, was that pressing the reset button while turning on the ignition, is for the "maintenance needed" light. That's not how you turn off the "check engine" light. AutoZone or places like that can read the fault codes for free. Just get them to tell you the code #, not just their guess for what caused it. If they don't want to reset it, you can by pulling fuese #13 in the RH dash fusebox.
