sorry guys i know i've probably asked this a million times but i really like to make a right decision.

if i keep my stock air box but replace the filter with a k&n and take out the resonator box and replace it with a tubing that extends to some where near the bumber and also cut another hole from the bottom of the stock airbox with another tubing to somewhere of the same area so that i have a home made ice box with 2 cold air inlets would i be getting very similar power gains compared to the compatech ice box or the aem cai? or maybe even the mugen cai? or am i really just dreaming and should just buy a well made one already?
