Default shot peened vs. glass bead

Thought I had a shop lined up for shotpeening my rods, come to find out it was accually glass bead. Is there any disadvantage to this? They said they were equivalant what is ya'lls opinions-experiences?? Thanks

I'm not sure but I think both of them are the same, they both use sand but I might be wrong

shot peening and glass beading are very different.Glass beading just cleans the surface just like if you were to sand blast it.Shot peening stress relieves the part being shot.Shot peening is done by shooting BB like shots at the metal at a very high velocity. Almost like shooting your rods with a shot gun over and over again.I said almost........

thats what I was asuming.....could only find info about it being done after being worked kinda like cleaning them.....Thanks
