HELP!!! Rubbing sound after ST sway bar install
Sup guys,
Well i installed front and rear st sway bars but the thing is that i was driving around earlier and it seemed that the front sway was rubbing against the spring? Everytime i go over a speed bump, it makes a metal to metal rubbing sound... which really concerns me...Anyone have this problem after installing front st sways? It only a lyl rubbing sound but it really bugs me... Any idea? Im gonna go check asap, most likely tomorrow morning, too dark right now... but just wanted to ask you guys for any input or advice... thanx

Not sure what year car you installed it on, but my 93 the front bar came into contact with a metal cross member under the car. I belive that the steering rack is mounted to this cross memeber, anyhow what I had to do was BEND it away, later I thought to ask Suspension techniques for the same plate that was used on the rear bar and that gave me the clearance that I needed. Check to see if the top of the bar is scraped and then you know that was what it is, Mine sounded HORRIBLE like metal ripping metal. But easy fix.
Thanx bro... mines a 92 lx... im kinda leading towards the end links... when i was installing them it looked like the front two would clear the suspension, but there might of been a chance that it could have rubbed... i only say that cause when i hit a speed bump it makes the sound from both sides... then i did it to each side, rolling over the speed bump one side at a time and still made the sound... did u ever have that problem?
i got a similar problem. my rear s/t sway bar rubs against my catback piping everytime the car is on a hill or the road is not even. what can i do to solve this problem?

i cut a piece of rubber hose and clamped it to the part of the exhaust that comes in contact with the swaybar as per 4doorh22's instructions, no rattle, no noises

piece of rubber hose between the exhaust and bar with clamps or zip ties work great. Thats what i did with my ST swaybar. Just make sure you secure the piece of rubber in place nice and tight.

well dude you must have done something wrong because ive had mine in for over two years no problem, the hose clamps hold it on just fine

mines a 92 not a 95... it doesnt rub against the exhaust, it rubs against the cross member... well the rubber hose thing sounds good... but i was thinkin of clamping the rubber hose to the sway bar itself... and tie it with hose clamps... but do u guys think the rubber hose can hold up against the rubbing? or will it eventually tear away and not be worth doin?

hmm, i thought it was fairly well known that the S/T bar is deisgned at stock height with stock exhaust which means when dropped it hits most aftermarket exhausts. it hit my apexi ws so bad it would not go on the car. it had to be cut and weld in a new piece of pipe with a different bend.

I think you guys are assuming that my rear sway bar rubs... it doesnt... its my front sway bar that rubs the cross member... not the exhaust piping and it the front was like stock... it wouldnt rub right? the bends in the ST front sway bar bends too high in the middle than the stock one...

OK, I had to bring this back from the dead.
I am having the same clearance issue, the ST bar hits the exhaust and makes a thumping noise. I want to try the rubber tubing but my question is won't it fuse or melt by the heat of the exhaust?
I bought some heater core tubing will that be a proper method?
