axle questions......help me
i bought two rebuilt axles from someone on this board and i had them put in today, along with new brakes, i think the brakes are ok, but not sure what i should be expecting from the axles,
1. there is a clicking when i brake, only occasionally, it has come from the left and also the right. (is this normal?)
2. there is a vibration in the wheel when accelerating, (seems to be in the mid range rpms)
3. right now i am riding on steelies, and i know i need to upgrade my wheels again, but since the work today, i seem to be sliding out around turns and such. more vibration too.
by the way it is a 94 coupe with an sir swap. and 94+ integra axles.

i'm totally confused, they are rebuilt axles, totally sealed up, no tears and i would assume they have grease in them
i really hope its the alignment....i can't afford this ****

no, i didn't do it myself, you mean you have to take apart the boot and put grease in it? as in i have been drivin around in a car with ungreased axles??
cause i got the origionals with the swap from homotors...that was in february, the driverside boot was ripped almost all the way around, and the left side was about to break....so i bought new axles
Since you got rebuilt axle's, they might still be bad. I would go back to the shop you bought then from and complain that the axle's are clicking. If you replace them again and they still click, check are your steering, suspension parts. That is all the help I can give. They should come filled with grease when you get them too.
don't touch that boot. If you take that boot apart the nukles will fall out of place and then you have to put them back in and that's not a fun job. Also don't reck that metal strap around that boot, they are very hard to find, and usally only come with the axels. As far as the clicking, are you running an LSD tranny, because if you are thats normal to hear some noise when the axels inguage inside the tranny. What kind of fluid did you put in the tranny after you install? I like to use 5 w30 synthetic oil..... But I have LSD aswell. As far as the vibration, do you have power steering? if not you will always have a vibration in the wheel. Check and make sure that the boot on the axels is not hyper extended, if it is, the axel wont sit right in the hub and the nukles may have fallin out. if all of that is ok take it back to the shop where you had it done and have them take a second look. Lastly you could check and make sure the rotating baring assembly on the drive shaft is bolted to the back side of the motor, if not you could have bent that axel when you got on the gas hard...........gl man.

if its clicking and vibrating when accelerating, that means that your cv joints are bad. either replace the cv joint or get new axles cause they'll go bad eventually if not fixed
the clicking i'm used to, thatsthe lsd i know, but even though the old axles were on their way out, they were never as bad as the ones i put in on thursday, i purchased the axles from a guy on honda-tech, and they have been either rebuilt or cleaned and repainted cause they looked real good, i'm gonna take it somewhere else and have an alignment and a second look, and see what happens....thanks for all the input, its much appriciated.
