So how's life with the orginial hatchcrapper? 160 mile review.
I LOVE this car!!!
I'm kinda a nOOb in the ITR forum... so 'beer' with me.
I'm the guy who bought Yacks car. As you can guess this car is great. It was/ is worth every penny paid.
160 mile race review. 2 races ( 1-first and 1-DNF)
The Hatchcapper is fan-damn-tastic!!! ... I however suck.
I believe I used about 70% of what she had during the opening round. Long story.
1. The cxR even detuned is pulling major power. The ITR brakes with 1108 Carbotech pads are simply exceptional. The brakes with the 'new' 1109's should be a total new level of braking (if your using something else, your cheating yourself). The car on the track is very easy to drive fast. She handles great, quick in the tight sections, changes directions well, GREAT in traffic and Super-duper in heavy rain!
2. The swap was about as 'factory' as one could do. My buddy is a Honda tech and couldn't believe the detail that went into the engine bay. If you do a swap... have Jack do it. Don't half-*** it. Period.
Due to my work scheduling we were unable to complete our test program prior to the start of the ECHC. We tested Friday for about 70 miles at CMP then raced Saturday and Sunday.
Race 1. Started 29th or 30th due to a busted transponder. Had a good start, passing a few on the straight and a couple in the grass (maybe 6-7 cars into turn 1). Passed another few small bore cars/ H-C cars before we took the double yellow at the end of lap one. The next two laps were under yellow. Few more green flag laps then another double yellow
. I was maybe 10-11th overall by lap 5-6, 3rd in class. The rest of the race was green and both H1 cars in front of me had mechanical issues.
Race 2. Qualified 7th overall. (5th in H-C) Broke a wheel starting lap 3 and DNFed. The DNF was my fault and I will double check those critical bolts more.
Overall- After 160 miles of racing!!!!
The moral of the story. Need work done? Go see Yack at P1 Automotive. The hatchcrapper will be there mid-season for some serious HP upgrades.
Thanks.
Edit- Typo..... maybe more, but don't care.

Thanks Jack.
Yeah, I know... give it a few races. I kinda like this VTEC stuff.
Note for those wanting to go H-C racing.
The days of stuffin' a B-series in a bucket and going H-C racing are VERY over! There are some very quick divers with fast, well prepared cars in H1, H2 and H3. The front of the grid is NO Joke!!! Lucky for me, I bought a great car to help get me closer.... However, I still got some ground to make up.
Bring:
1. Mad Skillz.
2. 200 plus HP
3. Under 2300lbs
4. Plenty of $$$$$$$$$$
John- Who's still looking for all the above.

I apologize to the ITR forum if my original post sounded like or was taken for a un-paid advertisement.
The intent of the post was to pass on the continuing history of said race car. I felt many on this forum know this car and would be interested in her current adventures.
I due however stand firmly behind the car, the builder and supplier of products that all go into the hatchcrapper. All of which are 2nd to NONE!

John: who took it as an advertisment? I figured you saw Jack's EP Bus update and figured "what the hell". I have no problems with this thread.. not that I matter, but still
That car is spotless inside and out.Spin and win @ Lowe's.
Seeing the car again on the track at CMP
Gradnpa for mod!! oh wait, I'd get all my posts deleted then

what was used to fill in the head lights/turn signals? i'd like to do the same to my crapper (do you have to have functioning lights/sigs during daylight to be street legal? I still occasionally take it through the twisties for between-races "tuning")

Ben,
The lights and signals are all still fuctional and in place. I covered the lights with white Vinyl. It took a little time to cut, but looks sooooooo much better than duct tape and or Home Depot tape.
I know, I know......... I'm a closet Bling-bling ricer. However, WAIT until I finalize my new sponsor I've been working on for about a year! Still working on the details and funding.
Hint: They're a Big, 'Evil' Tobacco company!
