Default displacement over-bore on a d series

how much extra displacement can i get out of my d16z6 without changing the crank or rod length? what all do i need to change? pistons obviously, get new sleeves? what all do i need to get this done? im gonna buy a spare d16 and build it on the side while i just use my norm d16 for driveing to work. so what liter displacement can i get outta the d16z6? will most any machine shop do it? any more info would be great, ps i searched but found no info on d16s doing this.

thanks

cool, so thats 4mm over stock right? what would i do for pistons if i did bore it out to say, 79 or more? just get custom pistons? are they much more expensive? anyone else let me know if you have maxe bore sizes and if possiable displacements. will you need to sleeve the engine?

go to rsmachines.com look into one of thei sleeved blocks.

and yes you would need custom pistons.

use a simple displacement calculator like c speed orrr like this:

http://www.knology.net/~jediklc/D.htm all ya gotta do is search.

d16 normally has 75mm bore with 90mm stroke. all youre doing is playing with bore size, so lets say u went over bore to 79mm. just enter it in.

your new displacement is 1764.7870422016803 cc's

Yes.............I believe they have D-Series bore sizes of 75-80mm.

damn, thanks a lot, thats pretty much exactly what i wanted,

what are my options if i wanted to increase the stroke?

oh and is a bored out turbo car streetable? with a boost controler of coarse. what about na? probibly not worth it on a z6, right?

no way dude. have u looked at the sleeve lining of a stock sleeve? its no where near thick enough. to go to 79mm, you need new sleeves for this.

for a d series engine it doesn't say much, no prices, no turnaround time, no details, or anything like that. i was just wondering what was needed if i had a local guy do the bore job. thats all. i will jsut call around tomarrow, thanks for the info.

Turn around on any sleeve shop is a month. Just figure that period.

JG claims to be able to go to 81mm with the D series block BTW.

And costs are around a grand.

Another option is getting a deckplate made to go in conjunction with the sleeves. The deckplate with a custom rod will better the rod/stroke of the d-series. You would be able to better the high rpm volumetric efficiency and slow the piston speed down greatly to make the d-series a high rpm screamer. Without adding a custom stroker crank, the deck plate will give you less displacement but add in creating a better breathing high rpm engine.

thanks for the info. is RS machines the only place that sells a stroker kit for a d16? im gonna call them in a few minutes and ask some questions, thanks for all the help but in the end it might end up being too expensive for me. we will see.

one more question, how many pounds of boost can the stock sleeves take? is it cheap to just get the sleeves replaced to the stock bore? or will more work have to be done than im thinking? tnx
