Default ek hatch into the 12's

what would it take hp#'s wise all motor?

this what i have to work with

type r head need valves (so that could be rebuilt with port/polish and stainless valves)

gsr block(that needs to be bored so figure the biggest i can go without sleeving and new rods, pistons, rod bolts

gsr tranny

i have no ecu and havent bought any aftermarket parts yet
should i use what i have and build off of that? i want mid to high 12's on bfg's with the hatch stripped

i have those parts and about 2 grand to work with

with 200-210 to the wheels you should go 12s no problem. maybe with less

I think your going to need well over 200hp to get low 12's on street tires in a 98 DX, how much weight reduction we talking about?

screw stage 1's and cranes...get at least the stage 2's

i'd take that ARR head and build it with skunk2 stage2's, retainers, springs, blah blah

resleave the bottem end, and get some high comp pistons or mill the crap out of the head. get some engine management and TUNE!

dunno if it'd be good for 12's, but thats what i'd probably do

if you want to save decent weight i suggest pullin out all the seats, or at least the back seat. But i doubt that you will save any more than 10-15 lbs by tearin out the carpet.

Your gonna end up havin a hacked up interior just to lose if your lucky a milisecond. Would u rather run a 12.01 with a chopped interior or a 12.03 with a full interior. If u do that it will be a max of 15lb which isnt anything significant anyways. Just build the motor................

from what I have seen before, if you were to "gut" you interior (i.e. seats carpet spare, etc.) it looks really good if you get the inside of your car painted to match your car. If you dont know what im talkin about, I could post some pics.

i know what ur talkin about but pics woudl be great. im thinking of hacking everything in the interior except side panals and the dash. i think that would look good after u paint it.

you obviously have no idea what your talking about
my friend gutted his gsr
we weighed all the **** he pulled out

173 LBS of crap we pulled out of the interior of that car.

sure pulling the carpet dosent do anything but once you start removing all the other **** it really adds up.

Put it this way... you can have a light car and a fast motor setup (220 whp or whatever) but if you can't drive it or handle the launch and traction problems, then you'll never see 12s. Put it this way.... I could hit mid-high 12s all motor, on slicks, in my H22 EG Civic hatch, and low 13s on drag radials (no NOS on those runs). I sold my car to a kid who wanted my car really bad, and took it to the track the next week. He was hitting consistent 14.4-14.3 sec times on drag radials. I get into the car, make 2 passes... 13.5 and 13.4 sec runs, same setup. I was obviously more familiar on where to launch the car at and how to control it off the line... he wasn't so he had shitty 60' times. Point being, you can have a fast car but if you can't drive it (practice, practice, practice is all that I can say), then you probably won't see 12's.... unless you have a 400+ hp car that takes no effort to get into the 12s, like a Viper, Porsche, etc.

I wouldn't use heat, though. It tends to get gooey and can make a mess (I'm not sure your experiences with it).

We just use dry ice and then just brake it off. Much easier, IMHO.

true. we are talking about ways to get to 12 secs considering the driver as a good driver.
