Anyone tried the Gude Head Package?
I know how alluring the all-motor route is, so I was just wondering if anyone had tried this package in their R or even GSR. opinions? thoughts?

In my years on this board I have never heard of anybody running that package for an all motor application. The idea of upgrading parts to run all motor it to get more power while installing parts that are actually as good or better than stock Honda parts. When referring to cams, springs, retainers, etc. that is not simple or cheap to do, IMO. If you are serious about all motor, look into Toda, JUN, and maybe Skunk. Those are the only parts I would consider for an all motor set-up. IMO I like Toda, and the package I am running cost a pretty penny. Do it right, not cheap. You will end up saving $ in the long run.
I've heard all the accolades about Toda and to be honest with you, it seems to be worth the extra money. I'd never heard anything good nor bad about Gude and was just wondering what the general consensus was. I did actually search too, but didn't see anything pertaining to the R or even GSR. However, much like you said, I'd rather do it right the first time and not spend $$ on repair work instead of upgrades.
Thanks for actually taking the time out to reply though.

I've heard alot of bad things from them outside of the honda community. Poor service, unfounded claims, poor product, "dyno tested" when not even close.
Stick with something you know performs.

I have heard more bad then good about these cams and kits. # of people have lost power on the dyno after adding these parts. I would stick with what people suggest on this board. Toda, Jun, Skunk2.

I had gude in my 91 Hatch 10 years ago, it worked for the time. Back when running a 15 sec 1/4 mile was cool, lol!!
Props to Portflow now!

I ordered a head package last year from them for my 2000 DX. Well, the customer service sucks!! I had to send back half of the package because it was either the wrong part (incompatible with my engine) or damaged. It has been over a year and I still don't have the whole package installed. It is depressing to think of what else I could have done with that money. Maybe someone else will learn from my mistake. I hope so atleast. Gude is just not good.

Gude does good work, but their customer service sucks *****. They sent a head via UPS and when it arrived the box was banged the **** up, the valve train had dents in it, cam caps were broke, etc. It took weeks to get my new head in and it was not worth the headaches the company put my through. Despite all the bullshit i went through, im pleased with the work since i got a huge discount on the whole process. My application was for turbo by the way, im not too sure how goode their cams are for the itr. I highly recommend port flow if you are going the n/a route and upgrade to a jun valve train with the stage 3's. Or be like everyone else and run toda's.
