Prelude
I own a 93 Prelude non vtec. It has a lot of body damage by a hail storm. Do you guys think its a good idea if I can find a car with a bad motor and put my motor on it? Is this a good idea or is there too much work involved? Where can I find a car that has a good body but no motor?
if you know someone who knows how to do a swap, i don't see why not, depends on your price range, if you've got a decent budget why not go w/ a used vtec lude for like 4-6G?? (dunno the going rate of the 4th gen vtec these days, but i got pretty lucky w/ mine a while back) and how bad could your body damage be from a hail storm?? must've been pretty freakin big for you to want a new body.
don't forget you can't dump your engine in a car newer than the year of your motor. what about dumpin that in civic hatch? you'd be flyin'

Yea the Hail was freakin' huge! Softball size hail! It broke all the windows in my car including the front and back windshield. Heck some of the hail went through roofs! It was crazy!
Yea I wouldn't mind dropping it in a civic either. I just want to know what cars I can put it in without much problems. Does the civic need a lot of work to make the engine fit?

What's that all about??</TD></TR></TABLE>
I'm not sure if this is national or state rule - basically, it has to do with somg or emissions standards. I believe some states have a law that says you arenot allowed to put an engine in x number of years older than the newer car body. I guess the smog ****'s are afraid we're all gonna put large block v-8's in our cars.
Personally, I think it would be something that we could probably get away with our preludes. I don't know how a state employee or inspection mechanic would really know if the H22A,H23,F22A in your car was older than the car itself. Only if the inspector wanted to be an *ss, would they even really look for it.

I saw couple cars on ebay. I was thinking of maybe getting one of these cars and putting my engine in it! Good Project?

state rule. down here, if we dropped a 70 something small block 400 running straight pipes in our hondas, we'd be given awards.
