Dropping the R. Any suggestions?
Well, i've decided to drop the R today. It already handles great, but doesn't look aggressive enough. Anyone have any suggestions on what coil overs i should look into? I don't intend on spending more than $1,000. Also, i want it to handle the same, if not the same, then better. Thanks

Get whichever coilovers are cheapest.
They will all do serve your desire to lower your ride height.

Don't fool yourself. If one cared about handling, he would know that the stock ITR suspension is wonderful and he would not think of lowering it for aesthetics.
There is nothing wrong with doing whatever you wish to your own car, but do not fool yourself into thinking this decision is being made with any regard for performance and handling capabilities.

Jesus let the guy drop his car if he so desires...why must every post regarding new suspension lead to someone berrating another member over how GREAT the stock suspension is...Yes, the stock suspension is good thats been established, he obviously wants something else so instead of telling him that the stock suspension is more than sufficient get off your high horse and give him some feedback regarding the topic he inquired about in the first place....Im reminded of the saying if you dont have anything good and/or productive to say, say absolutely nothing at all!

What Reid said was very productive. This is not only a place to ask questions, but also one to get answers from folks who have been there, and done that.

He want's a drop. That word in it's self denotes that no preformance gains are desired nor springs rates will be looked at.... it is only better looks... which should be in the apperance forum.

Ok... drops are not permitted on ITRs.

productive = making sure he does not fly off of the road after installing incorrect suspension on his car for 'da drop'.

Yep, I would say go with the Mugen Lowdowns. It dosen't lower the car much if that's the height your looking for.

Do you want threaded body coilovers? threaded sleeve coilovers? non height adjustable coilovers?
and the $1000 limit pretty much excludes threaded body coilovers.
Therefore, I would say Bilstein's with kg/mm, spoom's (more understeer = safer
) or ground control threaded sleeves with their normal integra rates or something stiffer, whatver rates you desire (but I'm thinking you don't know which rates to get)

I believe a lot of us were trying to save the guy some $, and also offer our own personal experience with "dropping" the R. I myself have had several different spring set ups on previous cars, and would like to think that first hand experience would be beneficial to the original poster. Besides, "POST WHORING" is fun..
I've used Tein HA's, Bilsteins and GC's, spoon springs with koni's, GC's with koni's..
If you just want the "dropped" look, you could pic up a set of slightly used HA's for $600-700. If you plan on tracking the car, I'd keep the stock susp'n.

Thanks for all the suggestions guys. I was hoping to find a set of coil overs that would drop my car enough to make it look more agressive, but at the same time handle the same as stock, if not better. After seeing all the replys, maybe stock is the way to go for this situation. Mainly due to the fact that i race my car. I wouldn't want to screw up the amazing suspension it already has. I guess i'll just use the money for the springs, on headers and some engine work
Thanks again.
On a side note. Its still a neon
No hard feelings

this can still be done, and drop the neon thing already.
again, read my post and answer the main question.. also what do you use the car for, what type of racing? drag? autox? etc. You can improve the handling of the car for under $1,000, but more info is needed.
