Default Rookie question I know, but I need to know ASAP ......

Did a search, didn't get the answer I wanted ......

I'm buying a short ram for the B16A swap I plan on doing into my '90 hatch.

I thought I would need to get the Del Sol DOHC VTEC short ram model since it is basically the same motor, but let me know if this is right!!

Oh, I don't want a CAI for it, and I am getting a pretty good deal on the AEM short ram, so I just want to know what model to get, no personal intake preferances please.

if you are doing a short ram, just use the crx one. any 92 up civic/del sol won't work, unless you move the battery to the back...then the sky is the limit.

So just get the standard model for the car then?

Cool, thanks!

Isn't the throttle body a different diameter? That's what I thought from looking at the two engines... I'll go check; hold on.

(measures with a bit of string)

Huh, they look to be about the same size, yeah. Go figure . I wonder if a CAI would work...?

I'm going to order the '89-'91 Si AEM short ram (getting it for $115 plus shipping), and run with that until I relocate the battery (planned on that anyways).

Then when I have the R intake manifold and a bored TB, I'll look into a different one.

Hehehehehe, one step closer every day!!

Yeah, the throttle bodys are different diameters. Thats no problem usually though, because most of the time you can stretch the rubber connector to fit over the TB. I have personaly used a CRX intake with both a B18a, and B16a.

well fortunately there is a company that still cars about crx's. very shortly injen will release their 1 piece race cold air intakes for crx's. now why is this special? because they are designed for crx's with motor swaps. 1 design will be for b16/18c5 and the other for b18c1 (gsr). yes the crx cold air works but yes you do have to stretch the silicon slightly. the only problem is that it is only 2 and 1/4 inch piping. and from what i could tell on my car it really killed top end. it was still better than the short ram, but now that i have moved the battery to the back and used the si cold air (very clean install) , i can tell the top end is much nastier.

skunk manifold will always be better then a stock gsr one and you can try to say you have a b16a swap instead of a b18c. isn't a race intake the one where it replaces the headlight with no filter
