Just curious how many miles you guys have gone after the gas light initially turns on. I usually fill up right away, but it seem like I only end up putting about 11 gallons in the tank at the most.

How many miles really are left in that tank after the light turns on?

 

I drove like 15 miles with the light on......scared shitless though ......had to fuel it up with 116 octane

 

65 miles, could have gone farther, but i was scared

 

I'm sure you can go at least 50 miles on the freeway.

 

I drove exactly 48.6 miles around town and ran out of gas. I had a small tank with me though, I just wanted to see exactly how far I could go. This was in my old 96 GSR.

How far can you drive in full VTEC with the light on?

Thats exactly what I was thinking, as a matter of fact I'm watching that episode right now on my computer.

i learned in school that it is true, b/c it causes the wires in the sending unit heat up

Sending unit is not related to fuel pump.

 

Running it to the end can cause premature fuel pump failure due to running it dry.

 

You should be able to go at least 60 miles @ 7500 rpms. The light's just meant to scare you .

 

about 3-4 gallons - you pick the milage..

 

For those who can do the conversions:

For us in Aus it is a 50 litre tank, which usually gives between 450 to 550 kms.

When my fuel light starts to illuminate I find I have about 10 litres left in the tank - the most I have driven though is 50km and I was glad to fill up at the end of it.


I do know that 1.6km is about 1 mile, not sure what litres to gallons is though.

i did 30 on the highway with my 2liter the other day w/light on...i had to stop, just couldnt handle the pressure

heres how to: first, theres 2 stages of warnings, i never fill up on the first one, it usually will flash for a bit and will appear later fading in/out while flashing.. so if you fill up the gas and subract that amount from 13.2 gallons - you will know how much gas you had when the light came on. but you should do it several times cause it doesn't always appear on the same time.. my light starts flashing when i have a about 3-4 gallons left.

 

My light seems to come on with around 3 gallons left. That would at least be 75mi saying I only get 25mpg. I however wouldn't personally go over 50mi with it on just to be safe.

&lt; remembers going over 60mi one night with the light on, but was scared the whole time.

 

how the hell can you judge? half the time my light comes on when I have a half tank left, but go around a turn and the gauge drops almost to 1/4 and the light comes on. then as soon as you hit a straight line again it goes back to half and the light goes out. i honda fuel gauges. my civic is the same way

 

Farthest I ever went was 10 miles. I was passing by the gas station anyway.

I drive on E pretty often cause I'm cheap. I've never ran out though.

 

I've driven over 40 miles with the gas light on before. I was going to work a couple months ago, and I forgot my wallet at home. So I couldn't get gas until the next day and I didn't run out of gas, had problems starting it though.
