Default Vehicle Speed Sensor?

did honda ever make like an analog VSS. meaning they didnt use a cable to the dash to read the speed? if so anyone have any info on this VSS like voltage rage for different speeds? im looking at making a digital dash readout like a SARD. so if anyone has any info please inform me. thanks.

92 and newer civics do not have cables, they use an electronic vss right on the tranny. Im pretty sure it bolts right up to the older tranny as well, you just remove the part that the cable connects to and put the electronic one in its place. Thats what people putting the sir clusters into 4th gen civics must do so do a search for installing an sir cluster.

nope just make sure that the signal off the vss goes to the ecu as well one way or another, on your car it would normally get that signal from the gauge cluster.

I just converted over from cable to electronic. Easy conversion. Like they said above make sure you have one wire hooked up to the ecu wire near the cluster otherwise you will get a CEL. I used a 93 civic dx VSS. I have 2 others laying around if you want one. Oncesir@aol.com if you are interested.
