Some of you may remember me writing about this in the fall of 2001.
A very good friend of mine that I used to work with has, a now, 5 year old daughter (2 weeks older than my oldest daughter) who had cancer at 3, fought the bastard and had been clear for some time. At her last cat scan in Jan she was given a continued clean bill of health. That has changed now, she has just gone through some massive radiation and chemo doses this last week because the cancer is back in force. She has it in her lung, spine and stomach. This little girl has been so tough during this all it is just amazing. Even after just getting out of the hospital from treatment she is performing tonight in a dance recital with her mother. Her treatment is going to be extensive and over a 6-8 month period. The doctors are positive about her chances although some of her treatments will be extremely tough on her little body.
I know most of you don't have kids but many have younger siblings. Those of you who have children know how this hits home everytime you hear a story like this. For those of you who still believe in small miracles, you know what to do. For the others please keep her in your thoughts. It's tough to understand why this happens, but we always have to fight it. Sometimes the bastard can be beaten and other times it can't. I hope to God this turns out to be a victory.

cancer is tough, but it seems this child is tougher and she will overcome this. My prayers goes out to her. Keep her mind set on beating it. Every little thing helps and keep in mind miracles do happen.

i wish the best - i too understand the pains of cancer as my father passed away in 1997 from melenoma that spread rapidly through his body. I hope that this little girl is able to overcome this- she obviously has a very solid support group which she'll probably need. I am sorry to hear that she is so ill, but she will be in my thoughts

I wish her the best. My dad has had cancer since 1993, it really affects everyone around as well as the person who is unfortunate to have to fight for their life.

I lost my brother last year to brain cancer. He was only 23 years old.
Cancer is a horrible and life-changing thing.
