B16 probs, need advice !
Ok, i have a 91 civic dx, with a b16 i just recently dropped in. its running fairly well.
the only code im throwing is 4, which seems to be the Crank Postion Sensor. its idleing at 2 grand, and its running a little rich.
now i have swiched the 2 wires on the distrubutor and it made it run like ****, so i switched them back.
anybody have anhy ideas on what i might do ?
its running fairly smooth, minus the fact its idleing at 2k, but it hits vtec.
oh and there is also a bog when it hit WOT from 2500 to around 4000 rpm
any ideas ?
any help wouild be apprecitated
thanks

Dan,
when i had a code 4 i got a new distributor and it solved the problem,
soo check your wiring again, check it on the ecu side, and if worse comes to worse find a new distributor.

no the computer doesn't tell me to replace the distributor, it simply gives me a code 4 which is Crank Position Sensor, which is in the distributor. therefore i was wondering if i replaced it, if it would fix my problem.

It's telling you the crank position sensor is not working, which indicates a faulty distributor. Unless the wiring is done wrong, yes, try a new distributor
If you're curious if it's a problem before you replace, go to a junkyard and ask to test an LS distributor.... someone please tell me the year again that works. It won't bolt up quite right but the electronics should be correct.

Do you mean like a Del Sol VTEC one? Won't work... it's OBD-I. I've heard you can swap the guts from an LS distributor into a B16 distributor casing. Anyways, 90-91 is the year you want.

he said he thinks its the distributor cause its throwing CPS code # 4
so i think thats what im going to have to do
