there is awd type r... wrx that is http://rallypleiades.infoseek....0.htm

this idea sounds good to me, i wonder if they'll just use parts from other awd car and mate it to itr motor.. i would settle for rwd integra if someone would come up with a kit.

RWD.. tube frame, rear diff turned upside down, custom tranny.. not hard, there's a number of RWD CRX/Integra GT race cars.. all are tube frames though.

in hondatuning it says that there was an awd integra, the ZXI, which was powered by a 127 hp d series motor. they talk about using parts from the ZXI and CR-V to create and AWD integra type-r

it also says that they hope to map the possiblities of converting honda/acuras to AWD to create a new feild for h/a tuning enthusiasts. they want the awd type-r to hang with the mitsubishi evo 8 and the WRX STi

what involved in making a tube frame for this application? is it somewhat of a rollcage or just extra reenforcements?

They had a low horsepower version in Japan powered by the ZC, but people who tried building them said they couldnt handle that much power. This is probably due to the weak differential which wasnt intended for high torque applications. For those of you who know Blake and his determination, all I got to say to the rest is Watch out and stay tuned!LOLOL!

That all sounds good and dandy, but not only are you missing extra HP from the equation, you'll need considerably more torque. FWD's have a relatively low driveline hp loss because of the fewer components than RWD or AWD.. Do you really think 130 ft-lbs of torque is going to be any good with a RWD setup..? I think not, let alone an AWD setup. IMHO, an AWD Integra (type R as it may be) will be severly underpowered (assuming relatively mild N/A setup). A boosted teg.. now thats another story

Default all-wheel-drive type r don't exist!!

First of all, its not a Type R!!! Second, its a DB9 4WD officially called Honda Integra ZXI 4WD.

These pics should answer all your questions....and finally, putting a b18c in it isnt worth it, the weakass tranny would never survive..

Made for snow country...notice the SUV ride height

ZC Engine

Yes, RWD bseries setups do fine. AWD, dunno. AWD does have a LOT more driveline loss, RWD isn't that bad at all though.

edit: D16 motors also do fine with RWD setups in tubeframe CRXes..

of course, a tube frame crx is just a small trube frame with a fiberglass crx body but the motor is still a D16.

damn that is some SUV action

no one seriously said Type-R's came in AWD however Blake and maybe others were talking about building an AWD type-r. His plans were for PPIHC competition.

The differential was ridiculously weak and could not even handle a low horsepower/low torque honda engine.

An AWD ITR for Pikes peak or any other racing application would not be able to use the parts that were used on the ZXI, they'd have to try something else.
