lower ball joint
take it to get it pressed out or beat it out w/ a hammer (IF you do this, you WILL destroy the ball joint and wil need a new one so just have it pressed out and have the new one pressed in.
so if i beat the old one out i have to get the new one pressed in?( i dont really want to go pay someone to do this and i just spent 300 dollars in the last 2 days on replacement parts that i would rather spend on something more fun)
If you dont plan on reusing the old ball jt then here is the DIY way. There is a circlip around the bottom of the ball jt. Take this off and use a spark plug or deepwell socket on the castle nut side and fit it over the castle nut. Hammer away! With any luck it will come out. Thats how I do it. HTH

Yup just beat it out, who cares cause a new one is going in anyway. This is how I've always done it and it works fine. Then just tap in the new one and don't forget the circlip.
Yep, beat it like your old lady. I just changed both of mine the other day. You will have to remove the dust cover above the ball joint so that it will pop right out. I pulled the old rubber boot completely off first then tapped pretty damn hard around the rim on the bottom of the ball joint, keep hitting it in different spots and it will pop out, tap new ones in with a block of wood on top, they are pretty damn sturdy anyway........GOOG LUCK
The stock BJ's have a circlip that you should easily be able to see that locks the BJ into the knuckle on the threaded end of the BJ. If it's not there don't worry about it.
The new BJ's don't have this clip and they really don't need it. You can't even use the old clip on the new BJ because there is no groove in the BJ to fit it.
I beat the stock BJ out of the knuckle. To put the new one in I took a LARGE socket that pressed on the outermost edge on the top of the BJ. Simply tap the new BJ in place. Not even worth taking to a shop to have it pressed in and out.

remove axle from hub 1st, remove circlip on the ball joint hit it out w/a hammer. when it comes out it will take the knuckle dust shield with it. not a big deal, tap new ball joint in and put the knuckle's dust shield back on

If found that when mine sheared and messed up the near side of my car, the new ball joint didn't have the cir-clip recess and i thought it was the wrong part but double checked it with the parts catalogue i got and it was fine

You guys might want to put the snap ring back in place. It keeps the balljoint from backing itself back out. It's a little important....
As for replacing the balljoints, remove the snap ring and pound on it. I find a ball joint press works well for this (well, the spacers that are included). Then use the press to put the new one in. Shouldn't take more than 10 minutes per knuckle.
My suggestion is to buy a set of balljoint with lifetime warranties as well. This way, when the boots rips, just pound them out and get a brand new joint. All of my joints are this way (CVs, upper/lower balljoints, tie-rods). Saves a lot of money in the long run.

bring it to me I'll have it out in 10 min., seriously, remove the lock ring, dust cover, take your air hammer and hit the edge of the ball joint till it comes out enough to move the air hammer to the top lip of the bj continue hammering for another second, done. then take a scotch brite pad, clean the surface, apply some thin lube, take new ball joint, remove dust cover, place in hole, hammer in, put lock ring back on, dust cover back on, finish putting back together, very simple

The Part Number from Honda in the UK has changed as has the part, the new ball joint doesn't have a recess for the cir-clip so you can't put it back in!!
how do u get the ball joint past the part where the axle clicks into the knuckle? on my integra it gets caught becuase their is a lip where the front wheel bearing is at. how do i get it past that?

The small ring should just pop out. Use a flat head screw driver. (This is from my experience on CRXs, I'd assume it hasn't changed much).
