Default KONI VS. KYB GR-2 (yeap did search for 20 min)

ok, here is the deal
i couldn't find any store or internet store that sells kyb-agx for my 6th gen accord

i found some deal w/ koni yellow 627.00 shipped at shox.com and also found
kyb gr-2 for 269.00... so my question is...

i know KONI is the best.. but i heard it is too expensive..and it is...

what is difference between koni yellow and gr-2?
is kyb-gr2 good for accord with that price or should i just empty my pocket and go w/ koni?

when i did search, i found lot of goods for gr-2(it was other models.. but still) anyone running on gr-2??? anyone??

any idea welcome! thanks in advance!!!!

p.s. i will run on eibach prokit! thanks!!!

As far as I know. The Kyb GR-2 is like a stock replacement. There is really no big difference from OEM. Now the KYB AGX 4/8 way adjustables are different. I rode in a car with koni's and one with kyb's and my friend who is an aggressive driver has also and he and I both prefer the KYB's.

I was gona go with KYB AGX in my 6th Gen Accord, until I found out that KYB AGX are not avialable for my car. From what I have heard here, Koni (Yellows) are the best you can get.

that's a lot of doe, but yeah i guess spend the cash for the koni adjustables cause the tokico illumina's are not much cheaper and not as high quality. If I were you I would just try to get your hands on a set of these! http://www.tein.com/badamp.html
They just came out and the msrp is only $750 for you application
If you already have the eibach springs you could just sell them. I guarantee you will be more happy with a set of the TEIN Type Basic's Oh yeah and then you can adjust your ride hight too!

check ebay for them

would this mean by changing to GR-2, wouldn't change any thing from stock??
would it just blow like stock in like 1 year?? or is it ok to use it??
and yeah.. agx is not avail. for 6th gen.. bad bad bad

btw, anyone with koni red?

Yeah, the GR-2 is a stock replacement part. If you were to take your car to your local repair shop and have the struts replaced they would most likely install KYB GR-2's. I'm tellin ya man TEIN is the SHIZNIT!

Nothing on eBay, but I found em here. Cheaper ($712.50) than the suggested price on the Tein site, so that's pretty cool.

Would this replace stock shocks and springs? I was looking to go with the Eibach ProKit myself ($150-$300, depending on where I get em), along with Koni yellows ($650, though I haven't looked really ahrd yet)... That would be cheaper, and possibly better, too bad they're so new that there isn't much info on em yet!

$712.50... That's a deal
It is a shocks and springs replacement, And yes that would be cheaper and Better. As far as "no info on them cause they're new" you don't have to worry about that, TEIN Makes Suspension.Period -they have an awesome history and are race quality products, even though that particular set-up is new, check out all the other stuff they make. It is all the same quality, just different applications and functions/uses
I really wish I could afford a set for myself. I want to go about an inch lower than were I am stuck at now.

Damn, I just looked at the modacar site about 10 minutes before I read this post today! I never thought to go looking there... Good deal!

I guess Tein's reputation is good enough to assume that the quality of their newer products would be good.
On http://www.modacar.com : Koni Yellow shocks $539 + Eibach ProKit $195 = $734 (plus shipping)
TEIN Basic Coilover System $699
So I save $35, plus whatever extra shipping might be on the 2 items.
The Tein coilovers are the cheapest on the site...

With the TEIN Basic, the only adjustment you can do is the height. With the Koni Yellow/KYB AGX, you can do the damping adjustment.

I picked the Yellows because I want the damping adjustment.

My advice is to go with the Tein SS at least...it has the coilover + the 16 way damping on the shocks... the basic tein suspension only has the coilover with a non adjustable shock... if that u might as go with a less expensive setup...

GR2's with the eibach set up would compliment eachother well. But for the money you can get the TEIN Basic, that was my main point. You save money, add hight adjustability, gain quality, and yes the TEIN Basic is the strut too. It's not the usual treaded sleeve and coil-over spring setup, the body of the strut itself is threaded.

and yes IF you can $afford$ it, go with the TEIN SS cause yeah, then you can adjust the dampening of the strut, and if you can fit it under your hood, you can get the TEIN EDFC kit that is the coolest thing i have ever seen! I want to be able to do that

total cost $1380: $1000 for the SS's and $380 for the EDFC

i thought the tein basic's were just tein s-tech springs and tein non-adjustable dampers.... are those tein struts shortened like the other tein struts? The tein springs mite not be much better than the eibachs. and for sure, the koni adjustables are better than tein non adjustable struts. the reason why complete coilover sets are so good is that they come stiff and are shortened so you wont lose much travel. if the tein basic's dont have any extra travel, i would go for the konis or gr2's.

What kind of warranty does TEIN have? I know the TEIN's springs have one year warranty (while the others have lifetime warranty) so I am just wondering about their warranty for the coilovers.

Oh, Koni has lifetime warrranty as well.

I'm looking for the best combination of smooth ride and performance. Would the Konis be best in that case?
