Finally Drove an ITR Yesterday....

Ok I found a Type-R at a dealership near me and convinced the salesman to let me take it for a test drive. Well when the lot attendant pulled it up, I knew at first glance I would not buy that car. The first thing that catches the eye is the ugly 17" white Tenzo-R rims and the low ride height. The front bumper had some cheap chicken-wire grill too. Inside it has a full GSR interior, white gauges, and ugly pink/purple pedals. Notice in the picture of the engine bay, all the white pipes on left side near the front? Those go into a black box that says ABS on it, and they snake to the firewall. They are obviously aftermarket. Anyway, this car has DC Sports headers, AEM cold air intake, Greddy Evo exhaust, an ok stereo, and Apexi Coilovers. Also I noticed that there was this black wool/insulation stuff coming out of the exhaust tip..It looks like someone took a hook and pulled out the guts of the muffler.....But anyway I was not impressed when I drove it...First off it was way too frickin loud....It sounded like the typical rice stereotype pissed off bumble bee that found it's way into the microphone at a rock concert....Also the ride was very harsh....The worst part about it is that the ONLY thing that reminds you it's a type-R is the center counsel...That's the only Type-R peice left....I get the impression I might as well buy a GSR and put a b18c5 and some coilovers and I'd have the same car...But anyways....I was very disappointed and hope that I'll be more happy with a more stock ITR.....They want 20grand for that car too...Also the salesman made me and my friend wait 30 minutes outside while he finished with another customer.... Here's the car:

Yeah, that's a good way to screw up an ITR.
I think you wouldn't be desappointed if you get to drive an ITR in good shape.
On the other hand, if you're looking for a quiet car, then the Type R is not the car for you.

You didn't drive a Type R
Type R's never came with leather seats or cruise control and I HIGHLY doubt someone would swap those in place.
You probably drove a GS-R with Type R stickers

I agree on the leather seats, but cruise is a good thing to install IMO and it has been done a number of times on this forum already.
also the VIN is for an ITR chassis. My guess is that it's a theft recovery or some ITR owner took the parts they wanted and sold it off with other integra parts installed..
I wonder if it even had a b18c5 still..

it was stated more than once above: theft recovery or a scam (person sells the ITR seats for 700 for the fronts, buys gsr fronts for 200, for 500 profit, etc etc etc) even the fuggen gauge cluster has 200-300% profit if you replace it with a gs-r unit.

cruise control can be added. the fact that it has a feature that it should have had to begin with doesn't mean it's fake.

The VIN says it is an ITR.
How can you argue with a VIN #?

it was probably a b18c1 with a red valve cover...buy an LS and drop a JDM b18c in it...you'll save a lot of money

To make a LS as close to an ITR as possible, you would need to spend far more than you would "save" by buying the LS in the first place.

which is interesting because they use the same parts minus the seat covers, but the fabric does accomodate/flex more..

because mang, no one would put GSR stuff into an ITR for any reason!!
its just an ugly GSR man! (strange coming from an ITR owner since it looks like an ITR with fugly wheels
stock body parts even, granted with some chicken wsire added)

anyways, it is an ITR. Maybe it doesn't have all ITR parts, but it IS an ITR based on the VIN.

yep, assuming you want more than the motor/tranny.. the tranny is nice, but the motor? who cares. one can build a nice gsr motor for cheap enough

I know someone with an ITR with a sunroof, and GSR leather in it! So you GSR haters can bite me
(not too hard though).
As with any used car, there are good and bad examples.....he drove a bad example of an ITR
