I have a 88 Honda Prelude, and it raddles loud around 2000 RPM. I've never heard of this for another type of car, but what it is on my car is the inner pipes rattling against the outer pipes of the exhaust manifold. If you have a header this isn't happening. It happens on 88 Preludes I know with the original exhaust manifold. There is an article on this somewhere on the net, you can search for it, or I will if you think this is your problem.
My EG hatch did that at 3000rpms!! That **** was sooooo annoying. So i got my swap and put 2.25" catback on and it went away
. Just go to midas or menikie(sp?) they can get u a new catback for like $100 or just fix ur catback mount so it wont move as much and rattle

This happens with my 1998 Civic LX also. It only happens when the car starts up. I was messing with it yesterday, and it seems to go away when I push the muffler/exhaust pipe up into the car. I guess it's just vibrating against something, but I don't see what it's vibrating against. Could it be my catalytic converter going bad?
