6th Gen prelude
Every were I look I see a new horsepower race beginning. Subaru , Nissan , Mazda Toyota they are all bringing in the big guns, more power is the name of the game.
But were is Honda, well Honda is making cars with the same hp , but they are more refined. Now instead of a 2.2 h22 engine making 200 hp we have a 2.0 k20 motor making the same. This is all fine but there are cars in the same price range or class on the street or soon to be that are packing a lot of heat under there hoods and its not just for show. I have just seen the review of the new Dodge neon Turbo and I have to say DAM. Sure I’m
A Honda lover but soon the prelude I own will be retired and then what will I buy. I
don’t want to move on to a car with the same hp cause its just not fun to have the same all the time. I’m starting to think that Honda lost its edge , sure they have cars like the RSX type S And the new civic type R but these cars have been done before and they remain virtually unchanged in the horse power department. I think its time to brink back the prelude, but this time instead of using a 4 cylinder engine why not put in the new accord v6 that makes 240 hp and super change the car to produce close to 310 hp. The trend it every were Nissan has there Z back , even Mazda is bring back the RX-7 into production. Time for Honda to step up to the plate and deliver or be left in the dust.
Bring back the prelude, and do it justice once and for all.
v6 310 hp wide body a cross mating between the s2000 and accord modual
with factory intercooler + supercharger priced like the RSX-S. Time to take the streets back from these pasky WRX's and god know what else is lurking out there.

I think we all feel the same way. But... well... um...
this doesn't really fit here. Then again, it's so random, it doesn't fit anywhere.
Maybe I'll let it stay for a while. LOL

Honda has really lost it's edge. I would never buy another Honda made after 1999 other than another Prelude. It would be sweet if they brought back the Lude, it would give us all something to be happy about. I'd be out there buying one the first day they were on the lots.
Lets see... Weve got Subaru releasing the wrx a few years ago and now theyre releasing the sti, either way its still a rally car, that is its intent. Nissan brought out the 350z which in my opinion is a major dissapointment, it is too heavy and refined to be considered a "sports-car" in my mind(buy some best motoring videos and watch the s2000 spank on the 350z) Mazda...ha ha ha ha that hunk of **** rx8 was a major mistake and even with the potential of the rx7 coming back they are still low on my list. Toyota, what the hell do they have thats worthwhile...celica's?(and i'm not talking of big clumsy 1000hp supras) The only car company (that isnt honda) that is heading in the right direction is mitsubishi with the release of the evo 8, that car is sick as hell. Bu then you have the s2000 and nsx which continue to dominate the import sportscar scene, simply put, were still on top.
I don't think Honda is really aiming to push the big horsepower sports cars. They are mainly economical family cars, however for sports cars the s2000 is still one of the best vehicles for the price though imo.

so go buy a Subaru, Nissan, Mazda, or Toyota. my next daily driver isnt gonna be a Honda.

I think u guys are all losing sight of what Honda is about....sure as hell not a V6 supercharged engine, Id shoot myself the day I saw that...Come on now, and yea they should step up the car power numbers but in only all motor of course, but remember, as power increases so does in general gas mileage...which Honda is concerned about.
Marketing here people, marketing.
My personal opinion:
Honda isn't concerned with the Fast and the Furious. It's nice that they have a great following, but to them, little rice boys running around has ruined their name with people looking for a reliable source of transportation.
The Accord is meant to deal with the Camery. Not to be modified. Camery is #1, the accord is now trying to track that down. Sales with real people with real jobs, and real lives, not high school kids or show car freaks.
The Civic was meant to be something other than a race car with a big wing. We just turned it INTO something. Like the old hot rodders, we just built what we weren't given.
The Prelude was sporty. Reliability, gas mileage, and a little bit of sports car all rolled into one. The leader of the group, and nice car, a great car, a good seller. It offered something that would run against the Celica, the 240 etc. Then it got a little too expensive for what you got. They pulled it. They may bring it back, but only after a re-design that won't leave a taste in your mouth from the old ludes.
You see, you take away a name long enough so people forget the preconcieved notions about them, then you bring them back, and you can have a new car, without people having an opinion about it just cause of it's "name."
They may or may not bring back the Lude. But if they bring it back as a whacky looking 280 hp rwd three door in 5 years, don't be surprised.
S2k: Built to satisfy those who thought Honda was out of the Game. A RWD, vert with a mean motor. Smaller motor, more power. Honda: "We're still here, we still know how to do it if we want."
Lets look at Acura. Integra: sporty looking, unique in it's design, and still carries the Acura name.
CL, and TL. Sporty, yet refined. An Infinity alternative for those who don't want to drop the cash, or don't like the styling. TL S etc. Just something for those who like to punch it and go, and a little bit of showing off. Again, "we can still do it if we want."
NSX: Over priced, underachiever. ULTIMATE BITCH GETTER!!!!!! Mid engined like a Ferrari, more reliable than a Ferrari, and the styling to match a Ferrari. Just isn't as fast, and doesn't cost NEAR as much. Great car in my opinion. I'd pimp one if I could afford it.
The 350 turned out to be a bigger success than many of us thought. The RX8 will probably bring some sales with it too. I think Honda will step up when they feel that these companies are stealing business.
The NSX still doesn't have a match across the board from other companies. It's in the Vette's class, not other imports.
The RSX competes with the Celica, Ecplise and the other cars like it.
The Civic is still a grocery getter, the Si was for the college student that wanted a quicker car for while he was in school.
S2K: Not meant to be a big big seller. It's here for "I told you so" factor.
In short:
Honda is still doing what they do best. I personally don't like the styling that their leaning towards, but many people do. They're trying to pioneer some things, and follow along with some others that are already succeeding. It's a very good way to play this game in todays market.
The car industry is suffering. The job market sucks, the stocks are down, and people aren't buying. Times are tough right now, so you have to go with what you know works. Taking risks sometimes will net big results, or big failure. Right now the Big H is playing it safe.
Trust me, these guys know what they're doing. We may not like it as performance enthusiasts, but they're ensuring that their business will be around to MAKE more cars in the future.
I personally am going back to what I love most. Muscle cars. American power.
One of these three (these three being my top all time favorite muscle cars)
mid 70's vette... 66-67 GTO... or a 67-69 Camaro.
17" Billets, dropped, custom interior, small block 400, four speed, and some gas guzzling, tire shredding power.
Who's gonna argue.
I'll always have love for my Prelude though. It is what it is... and it was a great car to me. I'll cry for days when I sell it.

True, but 300 lbs is quite a bit of weight, and the s2000 also has an overall better chassis design. And yes i was exaggerating about the s2000 "spanking" the 350z but when it comes down to it the s2000 is a car that was intended to be on the track more so than the 350z, so theres no doubt in my mind that the s2000 would out-perform the 350z on the track.

have you guys seem the new tl thats going to come out late this yr i beleive, its pretty damn ugly i would say. i think the only reason honda stopped the prelude is because the 5th gen resembles too much to the v6 accord coupe, and with the new accord coupe, honda wants people to buy that, so people dont have to choose between a new prelude or accord coupe, now they have 1 choice, the accord coupe v6 in stick, 240 hp, i am SURE they will bring the prelude back one day, and when they do it will def not be just another prelude, i think it has to be something near 300hp and rwd, or else its not worth the trouble of bringing back the prelude
