Best advice I've found so far. Take a Fairly large flat head screwdriver, and force it between the transmission housing and where the axles connect to the differential. Then pound as necessary. Avoid the center, try to go around the outer perimeter.
Just last thurs I tried pulling on the axles for a good 5 minutes, until i got the screwdriver, took me less then 30 seconds for both with the above method. Works great!

We just recently went through an ordeal simimlar and WORSE then this. The car was a 93 GSR. Changing the axles, the axel was stuck in the hub.
Took the knuckle off the car and half of the axle, pounded the **** out of it. Tried all kinds of pry bars in all kinds of places, tried gear pullers and all kinds of ****. Then busted out the sledge hammer. It still would not come out. The end of the axle looked like a mushroom. It was so bad that even if it became unfroze from the hub that it wouldn't slide all the way out.
Ok no problem. Simple, called and found a complete knuckle for 70 bux. Got that, came back to the car the next week. Then tried to take the other half of the axle out of the intermediate shaft. Guess what. It was ******* froze too. Tried all the same prybars/screwdrivers etc etc etc and it wouldn't come out. Called around and found an intermediate shaft for 75 I think. My buddies got that and finshed up the job.
The worse part is that each half of the axle was stuck in the hub and intermediate shaft, so my buddy had to kiss his $50 core charge for the axles good bye too.

Put the nut slightly on (just enough so you don't stripe it) and pound the **** out of it)

Spray the **** out of it with penetrating oil or WD40 and let it soak. Be careful not to mushroom the end of the axle too much, or it won't come out of the hub even if you do get it unstuck. Hubsharks and pullers are nice, but I have had more success with hammers and air hammers, the impact seems to have more effect than slow steady pressure. Good luck, those things can be a real pain sometimes.
