EQ install....now everytime i turn off my car the subs make a poping sound
this sunday i got my eq installed. if i dont turn off the radio my subs make a poping sound. did i connect it wrong.
My guess would be the eq is turning off too fast and causing a pop. I think a small cap to delay it's turn off may take care of that.
It's a capacitor. It charges up to the voltage that is connected to it and discharges once power is gone. Basically giving you some time before the eq cuts off. If your amps go off first then you should lose the pop. I don't know how to size the cap you need though
Physics was soooo long ago.
Maybe RadioShack guys can help you out. I could not see more than .1 farad being needed.
Also for troubleshooting, try turning off your eq, while your system is running. Do you still get the pop?

umm..i dont think i can turn off my eq while my system is running....its doesn't have an on or off bottom its a clarion eq
I also have a Clarion EQ, but I never have the problem you are having. Try moving the remote turn on to the amps to the ehad unit, or to one of the remote turn on wires comming off the EQ, that should elininate your popping.
as of right now the remote is connected to the headunit....should i try to connect it to the amp recomte?

If I am not mistaken, there should be 3 remote turn on leads on the EQ. THere will be one for the EQ to connect to the Head Unit, and 2 that can hook up the amp. Use either one of the Blue wirest to run to the amps turn on, and see if that will help. It is not a good idea to have more than 1 remote lead comming off the head unit. I think that will solve your problem
Let us know how it worked out for you, good luck!

You may need over 1 farad. This is pretty simple, 1 farad is needed for every 1000 watts you have, so if you have a 2500 watt amp, you'll need at least a 2.5 or higher farad capacitor, I myself run 2 X 1500 lx kicker amps, I have a 4 farad capacitor, I went higher just in case I wanted to get more power later on down the road.
