need help, tires rubbing
so, i got my car new shoes and they are rubbing when i hit bumps in the rear only.....
heres the info:: tires size 215\40\17 - H&R sport springs - koni shocks - the tires are hitting the outside (barely) and getting tore up a little.
more info:: konis in rear aren't set as stiff as front - cut the bump stops an inch like H&R sais only in rear - havent gotten alignment yet
what do you guys think?? should i stiffen the konis? get new bump stops and not cut them? and i am getting an alignment in two days (i know i should have gotten it done already....but i dont have much time with work and school (finals week))
TIA

damn how low are you? what is your offset? heavy *** sub box in the trunk? 215/40/17 shouldn't rub unless you got a fat chick in the back going over speed bumps. haha

yeah and what is your offset?? koni told you to cut your bump stops? thats weird, never heard of that. where is it exactly rubbing? the inner tire well? maybe you can roll your fenders.
the 40mm offset could be your problem. should of gotten 45+ or went with 17X7. roll those fenders! i had a site on how to do it with a wooden baseball bat but it's disabled. search for it and make sure you do it right.

POSlude97: READ MY POST CAREFULLY, you'll save yourself a headache and 80 bucks....
first, about stiffening the konis on the rear, its not gonna do anything about the ride height or when u hit bumps on the road, its just gonna make your ride stiffer... the only way to fix your tires rubbing is to raise your rear a lil more... trust me that's wha ti did and i have no problems what so ever with the rear tires rubbing and i have same tire dimensions as u do...
SEcondly, here's a post about the alignment that i copied and psted from my other post...
the answer is this, YOU CANNOT GET AN ALIGNMENT WITHOUT GETTING A CAMBER KIT. the only way to correct negative camber is to get a camber kit. its fairly easy to install, but if u must, go to your local autosports or a regular shop and get it installed... THEN YOU CAN GET AN ALIGNMENT... don't waste your money getting an alignment, if u get an alignment without getting a camber kit on first, the techs there will tell u, "your **** is off by so and so degrees, YOU NEED A CAMBER KIT" when u take the car to get an alignment AND you have camber kit installed, then they can adjust the alignment, otherwise its pointless to get an alignment... so if u wanna waste 80 bucks and get an alignment without having camber kit installed first, go ahead, they will just tell you the degree which it is off and u are still fucked with inner tire wear.
so your answer is this, get a camber kit if u want, but dont' get an alignment without one or the whole alignment is pointless.... however if u want, toe problems may come into play if u don't get an alignment. i hope this is clear enough.

Exactly... ask other people(who know what they are talking about) and they will tell u the exact same thing... funny how an alignment doesn't do **** but tell u the degree that its off right??? but makes sense cuz if u had a camber kit, the techs can adjust it to the correct degree!

if you only have your car dropped 1.4 in, you should be fine even with out a camber kit( as far as tire wear goes). Most places recommend kits only if you go below 1.5in. As far as your tire rubbing, I have no idea about that. my car is dropped 2.5in and i have ADR 215/40/17 and i havent had any problems with rubbing.
i was under the impression that under 1.5 inch drop you didnt need a camber kit, but slkblk (i forgot how it was spelled) said he has the same set up...
I cant believe that you have 17s and they rub. I have 18s and was looking forward to getting the eibach prokit (1.3) and some agxs without rubbing but if yours rub with 17s and 1.4in drop i dont know.
they barely barely rub the far outside of the tire, i have a 40mm offset with a 7.5 inch wide wheel...215 tire...so work around those dimmensions......its only hitting the black rubber lining around the wheelwell....its just scuffing the tire, but i want it to stop anyway

my **** was dropped about 2.5 inches around... the rear tire rubbed on certain bumps and when i went over speed bumps, up driveways... so i raised the rear about .75 inch... so my drop is now 2.5 front and 1.75 rear... looks good, no fender rubbing anymore, and camber doesn't look off at all... its strange how een though we have the same cars, some people have camber problems and some don't... i just got lucky i guess.... for example, i have several friends with integras and civics, and some have camber problem, and some don't... they have exactly same suspension set up and same make and year model civic...
