Default looking for new stereo for car

i'm getting tired of stock integra sound system so just looking for nice upgrade. now i'm not like those kinda people that are totally into making it the best it can be with tons of equipment, cause i really cant tell the difference. my old car had a 200-300 dollar deck and 4 boston speakers put in and i liked it. the car was crap so i really wasnt looking for anything good at all. my parents want to buy me the deck for my system cause i did lotta work at our church and i got nothing out of it (i didnt expect anything anyway, it was volunteer work), and my dad thought this was cool http://www.crutchfield.com/cgi...avf=Y . he said he'd get me a deck $300 and cheaper and he really liked that one. looks good enough for me and i liked my old alpine deck. its the best seller on that website so i'm guessing its good. so if they buy me that, i wanna get some nice speakers to go along with it and i have no idea where to start. whats out there thats good and affordable? i'm not looking for top of the line stuff here again, so dont post $2000 speakers and then some subs and amps... thanks again

That's a pretty decent HU, I'm sure you won't be disappointed if you get it. Alpine usually makes pretty good quality stuff.

As far as speakers go, I have Infinity Kappas and I love them. They put out nice clean, crisp highs.

Alpine usually makes good, quality stuff. I'd say either get some Boston, Infinity, or Polk speakers. Inexpensive and they sound alright (especially with an external amplifier). Do you plan on doing the install yourself?

best buy has them for sale at same price and probably under warrenty with free instalation. i think i'll get the head unit first and get speakers later if i cant stand stock ones. i never was very good with electronic instalations so might as well get free instalation, eh?

Sure, but be sure that Best Buy knows what they're doing. I have a frien who had them install a head unit and they fried her entire electrical system.

and buy best buy i meant good guys... do'h.

also, i was kinda thinking bout this deck instead. http://www.crutchfield.com/cgi...wm=su $50 more for folding faceplate, better radio tuner and better bass support. it also would probably look better figuring the dash is black and most of that deck is black instead of shiney silver.

i also noticed that the integra has what i think 2 sets of speakers in the front. small one near top of door and bigger one near bottom. do people ever upgrade the small one on top? i kinda want to get at least new speakers in front, spend maybe $200 for those. thanks for help again

You really can't go wrong with Alpine as far as I'm concerned. http://www.onlinecarstereo.com has some good prices aswell. As far as your speakers, you have a mid-range at the bottom and a tweeter at the top - a component set.

I agree...I just put an Alpine in my accord (the 200 dollar one from crutchfield...it is better than I hoped it would be. It sounds WAY cleaner than any deck I've heard...JVC, Pioneer...they just don't stack up in my eyes...

crystal mobilesound speakers. doesn't look as flashy, but the performance is what matters. cost less than other speakers (around infinity reference's price). silk dome tweeters are smooth and midbass is powerful for a component set. '

so i ended up getting the nicer of the 2 alpine decks i mentioned and wow what a difference with even the stock speakers. i guess the stock deck really didnt do much good for the speakers, or maybe its just that i finally hear cd quality music... anyways, it sounds really good to me now so i dont really plan on anything else anytime soon. thanks for the help anyhow
