Default Darton Sleeve's

I was recently told that darton sleeves have been having issues with leaking, and that they engine builders are staying away from them. Anyone heard anything like this? I have always heard darton sleeves are awsome, and this was the first time I have heard otherwise. Whats the word?

Default the Darton Dilema

i have a 5th gen, an i recently seized a piston, with zex 55shot, and decided to have my block sent to Darton,. I bought their pro sleeve kit (for use with new JE pistons 10:1, std. bore) and had them sleeve my block; when i got it back i noticed it was a flat deck that they prepared. I was pissed when i took it to my speed shop who is doing the work and they told me some bad things about darton. 1) that theyy dont dissapate heat as well as convetional style sleeving, and 2) that they wern't going to warrenty the head gaskets, cause darton flat decks are know to have problems with high boost/loads or pressure. This was dissastisfying after spending around $1300, to hear about so many potential problems before i had even installed it. SO, WHAT IS THE DEAL WITH DARTON SLEEVES/FLAT DECKS???

There are alot of people on here that haven't had problems with their sleeves, and the machine shop that installed mine has never had any problems with them. I personally went with darton and have no worries. All companies have issues GE had some, Darton had some, ect....

Darton Sleeves has been around for a LONG time and are one of the BEST sleeves out on the market in my honest opinion. Ive ran them in my car for over 2 years without a single problem and they have not provided me with a single problem yet. I highly recommend them. Do you have an open or closed deck block?

mistanoah, can you please extrapolate and provide first hand examples of the closed deck darton blocks failing? And the "flat deck" you are talking about... are you talking about the closed deck conversion kits?

i like GE sleeves myself, partly b/c of the excellent customer service i have received from them. some people have had problems with them, but they always seem eager to make up for their mistakes. GE gets a from me for quality and customer service

I was playing with the idea of darton but my shop said i will have cooling problems. They sent the block to GE so I will see how it goes when i get it back this month.
