89 ef hatch ... can you swap 91 si painted bumpers onto an 89 ef front end ? is it straight up or do you have to swap everything ?

or does anyone have trick to make paint stick to the black plastic bumper ?

1. I am prettys sure thy are interchangable.. but double check

2. sand paper and a think called primer will make paint stick

I believe they are compatable. And for painting I have seen a LOT of flakey civic bumper guards. I saw a beautiful white EF at an auto cross (now owned by a friend) with painted guards that were perfect and had stayed that way for years. He said he used the PPG product (commented on above) and spent a LOT of time prepping and prepping and prepping. I've also asked a friend that runs an autobody shop and he said the same thing. It can be done right but he said that most people don't want to pay for the time it takes to do it right because it takes so long. So they do it themselves and it flakes.

The front bumpers are totally interchangable. On my 89 hatch, i had a 91 front bumper on it and it fit fine, but the only thing is i had to get the 91 bumper lenses to go with the bumper. You can even put a CRX front bumper on a hatch but there will be a slight gap on the sides by the fenders cuz the crx's fenders are slightly different than the hatches.
