17" wheels kill R performance?
I am looking at getting new wheels for my R as I need new tires anyways. I always wanted to get 16's but I came across some Axis VPD's which I love but they only come in 17's.
Is there that much difference in acceleration loss from 16 to 17 inch wheels?
btw these rims are very light and cheap.....thats why I having a hard time passing this up.

Get what you want.
The difference between 16's and 17's is depends on the total weight of the wheel/tire/air combo not just the rim.
With the 17's you will have to be VERY careful with road imperfections like potholes, traintracks etc. They will also be more susceptible to tramlining because of the shorter and stiffer sidewall.
17" tires are generally more expensive and have less choices in the 205-225 section width range.

if you are buying forged, lightweight 17's that come in widths that you cant get on 15's or 16's (ie 7.5") so as to run wider tires, then why not? as dawhiteboy says, you really wont notice the difference. the poster is clearly not a blinger, and is concerned with performance. if he intends to get lightweight 17's then i say go for it.

hehe I pictured him as a blinger. but he's not doing anything competitive so whatever he wants is best for him.
Personally I'd rather have 15lb 15s than 15lb 17s since the wheel mass is closer to the hub, but

personally get the best of both worlds, go buy some 17"s for looks and some Yoko racing tires on stock wheels for speed. The Excel 17" 10 spokes im looking at cost $800 with tires and the Yokohama 225/50/15 with the S racing compound are 192 a tire at discounttiredirect. So total Im spending about $1200 and have the best of both worlds...just my .02
i agree. maybe he's not "clearly" a blinger as i once thought. what do i know, i am certainly a blinger
but yeah, i'm just saying that 17's as long as they are forged and lightweight are NOT as big a deal as everyone on this forum seems to make it out to be. sure some people are only concerned with performance.... more power to them. but heaven forbid you spend money on a quality lightweight wheel that *happens* to be bigger than the mandated cap on wheel size (16") because they make your car look nice too :gasp:

if you like the look of 17s/18s/etc get em. It all comes down to a matter of personal taste and opinion. For me, I like 15" wheels on integras. But that's just me. Others like 18s, so fuggen what.

Go for the 17's if you like them a lot. IMO every time I see an integra with 17's they just look too big for the car and a lot of people have rubbing isues but that can be fixed by getting the proper sized tire.

I dont think 17's look bad at all on an Integra. It may slow you down a little but who on here is a profesional racer who only races their R and never drives it anywhere else? Probably not many. Most people here race sometimes and drive their car to work or what not. At those times I feel it is nice to look good also. Call me a StUnNa but I dont care its my/your car so do what works for you.
I'm not a damn Blinger ......... my car is 100% stock except of intake and exhaust....zero visual modifications

yes they make a difference ....not HUGE ..but very noticable ...
it take more power to rotate more mass ....even if they are the same weight ..
17's will slow your down ....just get some lightweight 15's ...that are 15x7

Well bro like everyone is saying, in the end it comes down to your final decision. If you want light weight 17's then go for it. You are going to be the one driving the car around not anyone else. If you want 15's then go for it bro, it's your car.
Why not go with a 16 inch rim with a nice size tire like a falken azenis to make that baby look nice. As for my I have the 17 inch type R rims. ( DC5R) They are light and look nice at the same time. I like them and haven't complained yet. Go with what you want bro. But the only down side of the 17 inch rims is the tire size. Since my car is lowered I can not really go with a fat tire or it rubs. The biggest I can go is a 215/45R17. So just think about it bro. Good luck.

Part of the driving experience for me is asthetics. Sure it is nice to be like Mad Max on occasion and drive the ugliest piece around, but it isn't nice all the time.
EDIT: Before anyone flames me for saying that 15's make your car look ugly...that is not what I meant. I think that 17's just happen to look better sometimes and was greatly exaderating to get my point accross.

yes i rode on 18 c5 (roughly 25pds) and recently sold them and put the stocks back on (19pds) and felt a huge difference in hp. when you can actually feel power you gained at least 5-10hp. when i get to the tread bars i'll be purchasing some cheap 16' rotas.
