I hit Cayuga dragway this past Sunday for an import vs domestic event. We had slept in Hamilton the nite before so we arrived at Cayuga on SUnday just before it had opened. There was already a huge line up at the gates with a nice mix of imports and domestics, both street cars and trailer queens.

Anyways, I was lined up in the far right lane waiting for the gates to open. In the lane next to me there was a 2001 integra type R (CDM with red interior). The guy was all giving me bad looks and making comments to a friend of his in a red neon infront of him. I overheard him say "look at all the hot parts on this guys car".

I said to him "excuse me?"...he then looked me straight in the face and started going on about how my car had a lot of stolen parts on it bla bla bla, about how it wasn't "the real deal" and about how it was because of me that he had to pay high insurance and whatever. What I really found funny was that he started telling me that his friends are cops and what ever.

I flat out told him that he shouldn't make such comments if he didn't know someone. I honestly felt like knocking this son of a bitch out.

As soon as he saw the 5 bolt conversion automatically that meant that everything on my car was stolen. quite the mentality

I honestly didn't even fell the need to explain or defend myself because if he is that much of a *** then why should I waste my breath.

I mean, it doesn't matter that my 5 bolt conversion is JDM with 36mm front hubs/axles, spoon front calipers, JDM ITR front end conversion, JDM ITR rear hatch, JDM ITR recaro SRDs in black with red stitching, 98 spec JDM ITR front/rear sway bars, JDM ITR rear LCAs, cusco coilovers...basically pure JDM y0.

but hey, even though I spent an arm and a leg and another arm and my big toe it still must mean that my parts are all stolen.

All hondas (civics, integras especially) are targets for thiefs. We are all against them and we all sympathise with anyone who happens to be a victim. I was a victim myself two years ago.

Why? Its not a personal vendetta, I personally find that there are a lot of ITR owners with that sort of mentality, if your car has any ITR parts on it, it must be stolen. Normally it is the hatchcrappers who bear the brunt of this, but it happens to other Integra drivers as well.

 

Next time - ignore someone like this and move on with your life. Why do you care?

 

blah. I bet the kid in the Type R is just a dick in general to anyone, and the fact that he drives an ITR makes it appear that he has that "elitest ITR owner" mentality. but really, who cares? Did it really bother you that much? Personally I think as an ITR owner, we have a right to be suspicious. You see it every day, "my ITR stolen". we are all guilty of sterotyping, and if you ask me, you are doing the same thing he is doing by catagorizing him as something. Just deal with it, the same way I have to deal with pulling into a car club spot, and getting hounded by stunnas wanting to street race.

 

To be honest, sometimes when I see people with ITR engines and 5-lugs, it also bothers me. But the thing is, I usually won't ask them where they get the engine as it may sound offensive. I know there are some legit swappers out there, I myself sold my engine/tranny/5-lug to buyers who concerns about the law.

Just wondering, if I do see someone like you, if I say "do you mind telling me where you get that 5-lugs from?" Does that sound offensive?
