Default Car up on Jack Stands.... open door = pushes in fender panel!??

Bleeding brakes, new calipers and pads the other day. I had the car up on 4 jack stands on the jack points. Opened door to go in and pump the brakes and the door binded up against the fender panel and pushed it in like an inch. I could only open up the door like a foot, without denting it in more. Did the chassis flex or something while up in the air?

make sure your ground is level and the jack stands are set at the same hight. that shouldnt make a diff wether its in the air or not.

if you have the jacks in the right spots, that shouldnt happen, no would be the time to check on the underside of your car, make sure its not rotting out, that could be a problem if you dont have good support anymore, stuff will then shift.

Have you taken it off the jacks and tried opening the door yet?

Take the 14 or so 10mm bolts off of the fender and try popping the dent back out. When you put it back on you'll have a lot of movement area that you can test to make sure it doesn't happen again. There are 8 or so bolts under the hood, 1 in the head light, and 3 tough ones to get to behind the front edge of the door.

My car does it every once in a while, but it was like that since I bought it. I think it has something to do with the door latch part that goes 'DDDOOONNGGGGGGG' when I open and close the door. It either lets the door hang too low or open too far out...I need to weld the bitch back in, then it'll stop.

happens all the time on unibody's. Car is in garage, mechanic puts car on lift, leaves door open while lifting car. Car lift goes up in jerking motion, tweaks the frame a little and all of the sudden you can't open the door all the way.

The door has a lot of weight. This type of thing can happen if someone leans on the door while its open or jacks the car up with the door open. It happens all the time. I did it to an EK hatch that I had. It sux...

I think I'll take it off this weekend and see if I can make it look "decent". At least it doesn't seem to be anything seriously wrong with the frame....just some bad luck. thanks kids
