b20vtec in 88 crx just a quick question for anyone with similar combo
im getting some weird powerdraining type of noise when the key is in the on position, you hear the fuel pump turn on, fuel injectors inject, fuel injectors stop, then theres a noise like the fuel pump is still trying to pump... hard to explain but it sounds halfway like the pumps pumping and halfway like theres just a huge powerdrain..
anyway i checked all the fuses, all the wiring should be kew, the harness is all good.. nobody messed with the fuelpump plug.. what could this be? am i supposed to replace the main relay or something? is there anything as far as electrically that needs to be swapped out to run obd2 crv block + obd1 b16 head/intake mani
oh another twist.. although i think handled.. t'was an auto, now converted to manual.. i spliced the black/white wires from where the auto shifter is for the starter power, and left the reverse lights alone for now, is there possibly anything else that needs to be spliced/switched/plugged/ripped out?
get at me

screw it, b20 sleeves cracked on cylinders 3 and 4.. pics will be up tomorrah.. garbage. garbage. garbage.
Was it ever running fine, or were you just getting the swap done? I have had my B20vtec in my 88 CRX Si and it has about 4K miles on it now.
What's this? You installed it and tried to start it and it wouldn't go? Dang... didn't you notice the damage when the VTEC head was installed, or did you buy it like that?
this is my friends btw, i just did the wiring, block looked fine, head was superb, port polished, titanium retainer/valvesprings, put em together... got the wiring and last minute stuff done, and tried to start it.. sounded like it was running on two cylinders, tested spark, noticed 3 and 4 were sparking but if i took the 3 and 4 plug wires out, the car ran exactly the same, if just 3 and 4 were plugged in the engine didnt fire at all.. so we ripped the head off.. and bewm, cylinder 3's sleeve.. like an inch wide piece of the sleeve ripped off and just got knocked around in there screwin up the piston and the head on #3 cyl position... and ended up cracking through to the #4 sleeve.. really wack considering this thing was so close..
2 possibilities i can think of..
either my friend dropped something in there while the spark plugs were out.. which he swears up and down couldnt have happened.. and no reason to lie to me.. its his engine..
or the block couldve had a microfracture in the sleeve already and the higher compression was just the last straw.. hmotorsonline btw..
like i said pics tonight.. new topic in a few hours
