d16y7 timing problem
i had to switch out my engine for a used one because i think i boosted too much and fried my rings. it has 40000 miles on it and the engine swap went rather smoothly for a first timer. but when i first started it up it idled really rough so i adjusted the distributor but it didn't help much. once it idled down it was a little rough but i took it out to see if it was slightly drivable, but the thing just backfired most of the time. so i figured that the timing belt must be off and i've adjusted it and re-adjusted it about 20 different times but it has a lot rougher idle than i started with. is there anything special i should know about setting timing? it's been 2 weeks now and i'm just about ready to turn it over to honda and let them sort it out. (and i don't want to do that because NOBODY works on my car but me, it's a pride thing) any and all help, tips, deep thoughts, anything will be greatly appreciated.
