Was your car automatic before the swap? If so, you need to disable the neutral/park safety switch.

i get no luck when trying to turn the wheel and pull the key. yes the car was an automatic. How would i disable that safety switch. i think i disabled that to actually get the car to start. but maybe i missed a step.

There are 2 different hook ups that were at the auto shifter. 1 is the neutral safety switch, to prevent you starting the car when its in gear, and the other is the park switch so you can't get out of your car without 1st putting it into park, and then taking out the key. There is a solenoid on the steering column that locks the key in the ignition switch, until the sensor at the auto shifter detects that the car is in park. Just have to find the right 2 wires for that switch, and join them together.
