Ok, well, my tranny on my d16z6 is starting to give me some troubles. I really don't want to buy another used tranny, because that is always such a gamble. I do have a VX tranny that used to be in my car that was pretty hosed internally. It didn't have 3rd, 4th, or 5th gear by the time I was done with it.

But anyways, here's my question. Is it possible to completely rebuild my vx tranny into something with much shorter gearing. Maybe even shorter than the z6 gearing (I'm thinking more towards zc gearing)? I am pretty sure that I would be replacing all the syncros, gears, and bearings if I did do this.

If someone could give me some insight into what problems I would run into trying to do this, and if it is even a reasonable project. I just need to know which parts I am going to want/need to build up a close ratio tranny. Also, what kind of costs will I be looking at for parts? And where could I find all the parts that I would need to do this?

And just for the record, this is my daily driver, so the gears can't be too crazy short. But my 3rd and 4th are just too long for my tastes, and I would like to have a tranny that pulled close to as hard in 3rd as it does in 2nd.
