Default How can i clean this (56K don't try)

As you can see the pistons took a lot of beatings.
How can i clean the pistons and the mating area of head and block.



are you sure these pistons come in silver, they sure don't look shiny silver.

What is the best way to clean this **** up, inlcuding the pistons.

pics are fine

the easiest way to clean it is to get new pistons

im not sure what motor you have

but you can get new us itr pistons with rings for 150 shipped from a couple places including me

I'm sending the heads to the machine shop, i know the mating area of the head and the block should be clean, so i just wanna clean that **** up so wanted to know what exactly can can't i do.


Also i have oil in my intake manifold, so i wanna clean that **** up as well.

Looks like you need a new set of pistons. That one on the end looks chipped or melted.

Pistons is not chiped, the black burned oil is chipped

carb cleaner cleans stuff up quite well for me, may wanna try that on the mating surface, i'd run some chevron techron after its all back together and that cleans injectors and carbon deposits.

guys it's a V6 so stop saying 3 cyl! lol

you can try several things, but you have to keep in mind you have to change the oil before starting it the first time after this rebuilt. you can use Catrol cleaner (forgot the name, somebody remember it?), you can use ATF, or any other degreaser like a carb cleaner or whatever, i guess diesel fuel will work, but be carefull, i wouldn't recomend sanding the top of the block, i guess it would make the block less flat (don't have the correct term on my mind right now) than what it is right now, and you will make the block more prone to warp, just my $.02
