s2k intake
i had the PRM intake
it looks like a cheapp piece of garbage
I didn't even put it on my car
I sold it a while back
I bought the J's racing intake about a week ago
I didn't put it on yet
I've heard pretty good things about Injen and AEM
they're not too expensive and they actually look good under the hood
But I wouldn't get an intake expecting any power gain
cause they really dont do much
4 or 5 hp is no big deal
they're a guy on S2Ki.com that sells intakes for cheap
it's a AEM copy
just as good
half the price

I'm still running the stock intake. The noise without the cover on the intake box is load enough for now. I don't think the power gains is worth the sound it makes. This is just because my wife rides in the car with me. Before I was married I took a hack saw to my Civic's exhaust and cut it just past the resonator.
I've been running the Comptech intake for about a year and a half. I love it. I wouldn't put any other intake on this car. It looks great, it's not as loud as the others, it's within about 1 hp of the other ones and the curve is better, and there is no chance of sucking up any water. Yeah it cost a little more but I think it was worth it.

If you think you're more accurate than actual dyno chart evidence, then you're an idiot.

man, you are so right! the question is, why didn't I realise that before I bought it? Don't I feel robbed right now, paid all that $$$ for the worst intake ever made, it's all hype.
but the real question comes to mind is...did you figure all that on your own? Ignorance is bliss.

Don't sweat it vapors... most of the integra crowd here thinks anything that comes from japan (other than their car) is hype... you'll get called a 'stunna.'
They have no appreciation for the actual companies who do the R&D and come up with a product that works... only those who copy it and subsequently do not have to invest in any r&d other than making a reverse mold of something original
Of course these are the same idiots who like rap stars who sample all of their tracks with stolen lyrics and beats.
Oh well, when all the real aftermarket companies have to close their doors because comsumers buy the cheap knockoffs and we are left with a bunch of crap parts because no one has the ***** or know how to do any r&d we'll all be left empty handed.
For all you idiots who think j's is some hyped up jdm company, i've visited and talked with one of the owners Junichi Umemoto and they have more racing experience (around a track.. you know like suzuka, twin rings motegi,... not the local yocal drag strip) than you or your other buddies will ever collectively have.
When i visited there were many engines, transmissions, and other parts in various states of dissasembly and rebuild. We are not even going to talk about the full spec race cars (one of them the fastest crx in japan... around a track...not strip)

dynos for integra R's show that j's intake has been known to lose power over the conventional short ram. In this case, the comptech ice box was used.
there are a couple of suggested reasons for this.
One is that the "fatter" part of the intake causes a turbalance of air flow. So natraully at low rpms, a conventional sri (because of same diamater throughout), would have a better VE (volumetric efficiency) at low rpms. However, a motor that is heavily built up MIGHT benefit from the intake
another one is that you can think of the skinnyportion of the intake as a "bottleneck".. So there is really no use for the "fatter" part of the intake when you got 2 bottlenecks at the filter and tb position of the intake.
yea, j's intake is supposed to increase the velocity of the air as it moves towards the throttle body. But since the air is being sucked in instead of pushed in, the velocity of the air would actually decrease.
now if this intake was ram air style using the velocity stack method just like j's, then it would most likely be beneficial.
imo, j's intake is useless unless the motor is really beefed up (so the intake can get close to 100% volumetric efficiency). maybe it's close to 100% when used on the s2k. Maybe not. IMO, it's not. Which is why i said "show me a dyno."
Vapor:
don't get butthurt.. that you spent that much money on an intake that probably didn't do anything for you. life moves on, its okay.. ignorance is bliss? lol..

If you had a degree in mechanical engineering with emphasis on automotive application, which I doubt; then you might want to focus on your grammar.
The one thing you fail to realize before chiming in with your 2 cents is that this is a thread in the s2000 forum, regarding (suprise, suprise) s2000 intakes.
And you're using "information" from a different engine, in an entirely different car altogether to make an apples to oranges comparison. Nice.
Furthermore, had you stayed within the topic of discussion; you'll realize that the J's racing intake for the aforementioned Honda s2000 is currently (IMO) the best intake out on the market, thanks to cold air intake duct that extends to the bumper grille.
Mr. Integra just has ***** envy.
