Severe rust on 4th gen, beyond my ability to repair?
I pulled off the bumper today on the rear driver side, and I found this. I was afraid something like this was happening.
So, what are my options here? I can't let this go on I'm pretty sure, as the bumper won't secure properly soon.
Based on a search, maybe I could use some steel mesh and bondo, but is this going to be doable? I have bubbling around the rest of the well, but this is the worst of it.
Thanks for any help. BTW, I live in the Toronto area, so salt in the winter is going to destroy this likely if I'm not careful

Bleh, not a problem, my 5th gen is in worst condition. You will, however, most probably have to cut and weld new pannels if you want the job done better. Just patching with plastic won't stop the hurt, and it'll fall off next winter, trust me, I live in Quebec, I too know how it is. +, we get shitty winters here. (though you had a pretty bad one too this year, hehehe, sinners)
Yeah this winter was pretty bad, the last few years it's been pretty mild.
I'm going to hazard a wild guess and say that I don't have the skills or tools to cut and weld the panels myself
That said, any idea roughly how much I'm looking at?

In a bodyshop, you're probably looking at a 3-4000$ CAN.
I'm getting mine done hopefully this fall, and it'll be cutting and welding, either just slap a whole other back end, or replace the bad parts. I tend to go with the 2nd option, because the guy who'd do the job is a friend of mine, and he's an artist, he's just really good at making cars like mine re-live a second life.

im getting mine fixed as of monday , alrighhhhht!, well they will probably grind all that **** out and weld in a new peice.....
my rust is beyond that on my 92 accord EX. and I was talking to a body shop today and he said that my repair for weld and paint on both sides of the rear quarter panels will be 500$ US... not to shabby... if you want pics of my rust let me know.
I was just curious to see if any of you guys that have tried to repair rust before and had not so great long term results used anything to stop the rust? Something like a rust stoppping primer that stops the spread of rust or a product like POR-15 which is supposed to work great.

Yeah that would be great. Especially if there's photos of the wheel wells, mine has bubbling as well besides the nice big hole that's there behind the bumper already.

The thing with rust converter is that you have to get the rust sanded down to where it is not cracking off at all and then you spray it on and it turns it into black primer. I have dealt with a lot of rust and what i normally do is just order the new panels that i need and cut out all of the rust until i find good metal to work with and the cut so that the panels will fit and then weld them on. After that it just comes down to body work which sucks takes up a ton of time. Yours is not that bad and i would probably just take it to a shop and ask them how much they would do it for. Probably looking at about 300- 1000 dollars depending on how well they do the job and if they are feeling greedy or not.
my 90 accords got rust spots all over the place....its not 2 bad but its getting there, i need a new driver side there i can tell u taht, for some reason if u look at the part right at the beginning of the door when u open it (next to the steering wheel) its rusted inside completely.....and nopoint in repairing it so i gotta go to the junkyard and try finding me a new door
, all other rust is minor but it'll be big soon...if u guys wanna c what i mean with the door let me know i'll post some pics up asap
and could u guys tlel me how to post up pics? like do i just link them ro wat?
